Forums - Microsoft Discussion - [CONFIRMED] Marious (Ryse) Polygon Count Downgrade from 150K to 85K

Tagged games:

Been playing "next gen" games on my PC for a while now. I'm not really disappointed. I saw this coming to be honest. At those price points its to be expected.

Just to put the polygon count in perspective, apparently Uncharted 2 used 30,000 for Drake.

So 85,000 will still look very impressive.

Still twice as much as Killzone, but ya...obviously quite a bit less than before
Oh well. Last I checked it still looks great visually

Rumor has it that GG used some trickery and  the Killzone main characters have about 0 polygons over large parts of the game

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Thing is, you most probably couldn't spot a difference...

Amazing how they accomplish that - it being a fps and all.

Seems reasonable to me. I'd heard them talk in a past vidoc about how the game basically scales back the detail on every character on screen depending on the distance they're at. Having a set poly count for every character on screen is probably the better way to go
