Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U's 2014 Line Up: Worse than 2013's?

Tagged games:

you're missing batman, AC4, watch dogs and call of retrocess as 2013 multiplatforms.

but anyway, 2014 already have huge hitters announced + many unannounced titles. it will easily beat 2013 lineup. also, shin megami tensei vs fire emblem.

Much too early to say, this is Nintendo we are talking about.

Smash and Mario kart alone make it better.

I don't think so. 2013 isn't putting the bar high and there will of course be additional first party titles announced for 2014.

That being said, it's not going to be a great year either. There is no third party publisher that wants to see the Wii U succeed, so it all comes down to what Nintendo can put out and if they can change the image of the system itself (which currently is GameCube 2.0, not Wii 2).

Activision does. Ubisoft does. Platinum does. All those new indie devs do. To claim no 3rd part wants it to succeed seems a bit trollish honestly. Sure companies that never supported them are not making games for the system but nobody but EA dropped support and they did a quick turn around after the MS 180. I think we can all guess why that happened though. They thought they had it made with MS but then MS changed their mind and EA had no choice but to change their tune.

ON your list of 2013 games. Do you know how many were not known in 2012? Wii fit U, Sonic Lost worlds, Wii Sports if its on your list.

I am sure there are more than a few announcements for 2014 games coming

I think 2014 will be a better year for Wii U software. Smash Bros. and Mario Kart is one hell of a one-two punch, plus you've got Bayonetta 2 (a sequel to one of the best action games of the last generation) and X (a spiritual successor to one of the most beloved RPGs of the last generation). Add in a bunch of unannounced first-party games -- maybe even a new Zelda title -- and a handful of multi-platform third-party games, some of which will be the definitive version, and you've got a pretty nice line-up.

X is more than enough.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Considering DKC, Sonic, 3D Mario, Wii Sports Club were all announced within 6 months of release, Im sure 2014 has a fair amount of games that have not been announced yet

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

look at the 3DS, it gained momentum + a few big titles after E3 and everything is still going the way it has to. ONce it started rolling games can be separated by or even two months depending on their previous popularity. Breaking the momentum is the difficult part (basic physics), reason why Nintendo is throwing everything out of the window this holiday. More important, there are so many games that people will pick up a few of the bunch only because of the amount of money involved, leaving the others to look forward on the upcoming months. NIntendo games usually have the best legs, because casuals also like those games and they are ok with one gaming per two months or so.

Kinda off Topic but 2015 should be the biggest year. Im guessing a new LoZ, 3D Mario and maybe even Metroid (or whatever Retro are working on, DKC cant be there only game in production even if its just the early concept stages.)
