Could be handy, but it will probably be nothing.
Who bought Atlas anyway?

Panasonic is not interested on video games like Sony did. Sony wanted Nintendo inside their company. Yamauchi said "no no no, I worked hard to be were I am, I am not going to let Sony suck my hard work and make it dissapear".
I was not only NIntendo's fault but Sony was also greedy.

Is that really necessary? Anyone who has actually read up on the evens of the SNES-CD/Playstaion debacle between Nintendo, Sony and Phillips knows that both Nintendo and Sony were trying to 'pull fast ones' from the other's perspective. Additionally that was nearly 20 years ago.
OT: I'm not sure how or what this will affect but it's always good to see large video game developers like Nintendo collaborating and looking for new tech, etc. to make new and/or better game experiences. In the past decade Nintendo has popularized motion gaming (Wii) touch gaming (DS) and brought steroscopic 3D into gaming (3DS) and touch gaming to consoles (WiiU) not all of these may have been fun for everyone but a lot of people have enjoyed a lot of games because of these and other things companies like Nintendo have done to try to innovate (Kinect is also a great example). This is only good for true fans of gaming as a whole.

Sega-Sammy (who owns Sega) formed a new subsidiary to buy Index who in turns owns Atlus
so Sega.
