Forums - Sales Discussion - HW UP! Global SW UP! 14th September 2013

It's doing similar to psp one with a smaller install base so it's not that bad

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Damn it Sony, Killzone Mercenary is too good to have sold that little. Also Wii U nearly went under 20k... hopefully Zelda will keep that from happening.

Why only blame Sony? Why not Vita owners as well, Sony provided a quality title. Noone bought it. Aren't there enough core gamer Vita owners to buy the game, even if it doesn't have an extensive marketing campaign?

While I beleive Vita owners are also to blame  since most cry for more AAA titles and when one comes out they don't even buy it, I think Sony could have at least had some sort of marketing for what should have been there biggest game this year in the west.

Exactly what I was thinking.

And I agree with the second part, of course they could and should have tried more to promote it, they also got unlucky to launch around GTA V, but well bad luck. Still the sales are very underwhelming, way lower than I would have expected even without marketing campaign.

Remember guys Vita software sales are majoritaly Digital, looking at retail numbers is a small part of the picture.

Anyone worrying about KZ:M heres a comparison
KZ:L on PSP sold 12,849 in its 1st week in the USA and sold 371,085 lifetime in the US
KZ:M on Vita sold 14,251 and that's without digital sales.
Worldwide KZ:L on PSP sold 834,314 so hopefully KZ:M can leg out to similar numbers

LOL Rayman Legends.. was it really worth delaying this for wiiU owners.... haha why isnt the PS360 fans buying the crap out of this?.. all 150+ million  of them.. lol so sad.

We arent buying the crap out of it because we have alot more and probably better games to play. Why arent WIi U owners buying it since some of them have been complaining about lack of game releases all year. And they have the better version

Puppeteer... :(

I worry might see 2D plat formers (outside of Mario) only be viable as $15-20 download versions.

thats been the case the entire gen. I honestly wonder how much of these games have to do these kinds of numbers before people understand this is not a genre that is going to thrive on the 50-60 dollar shelves. Unless your name is Mario or Donkey Kong. Little Big Planet is the only non Ninty 2d plat that actually put up good numbers on their releases and as much as i do enjoy that series that probably has mroe to do with the creator tools than actual platforming.

That's a point, hope your right. But isn't KZ:M quite a big game for Vita standards, combined with the day one patch, it may have lower digital/retail ratio than indie games.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I was hoping to see resurgence, but people have it in their minds 2D = budget title.  Thing is Puppeteer was $40 day one so not like Sony thought it was $60 game even.

Ouch on Killzone mercenary.
