MGS1 and GTA3 are FAR more revolutionary than MGS2 and GTA SA. And I'm not sure how Super Smash Bros is "revolutionary".
Also, we're talking about a 30+ years old industry. You can only revolutionize so much. It's only natural, and it's not a bad thing by any means. What we do have are games that take a estabilished formula and refine it so much, that it becomes the new "blueprint" for future games. Like Gears of War and Uncharted.
