Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are some people so negative towards the "dudebro" games? What do you think of them?

I generally love sports games, fantastic to play with friends.

Not so much a fan of CoD but most of the other fps games can be great.

Around the Network

they are way to mainstream. Especially shooters.

Games like TimeSplitters were cool or even the old shooters like the Turok games Goldeneye or PerfectDark.

Those new dudebro shooter games are so boring there is nothing to explore its just BOOOM (I have to look impressive)

its made for the generation of humans that cant find the next street without their GPS....

As for sports its the exact same thing every year.  Buying 1 of those games every 4 years should be sufficient.

I love them games,but I'll play other stuff 2.

Because they're way more popular that the specific shit people on the internet like.

Therefore they get all the development budget.

For the most part, Dudebros are guys like this:

It's not the games but the dudebros we hate

Dudebro games help the industry regardless of what these so called "hardcore gamers" hate.

#EA and Activison needs to keep doing the same.

Not really sure why you add Killzone/Halo and even Battlefield 4 to this list but anyway. I think you are mistakenly mixing a type of gamer with a type a game (shooter basically...)

I like most "DudeBro' games, there fun to play with friends and usually really easy to pick up and play. Most of the times people hate on them because they make a lot of money and feel they don't deserve it. Also there's some people that don't care for online and wont play mp which makes the people that like playing only single player hate games like CoD and Battlefield because they have bad/boring single player stories.

Gamers who appreciate art, well told stories, and innovation see them as nothing but an obstacle that prevents people from experiencing much better available games, thus a discouragement for the development of high quality, meaningful games.

There is a conception that games like Call of Duty are largely the reason why the likes of Shadow of The Colossus are unknown and unsupported. That's why they're hated.

I'll answer to those who think that way.

No! You are not allowed to try and do an objective hierarchical classification of human creations, that would make you an arrogant elitist. The sensibilities of those who prefer ''dudebro'' games over Shadow of the Colossus are just as good as yours. The games are all equally meaningful because it's all relative to one's perception. There are no such things as objectivity when it comes to human creation, it's all about what the individual prefer. Don't you dare trying to be objective! Arguments are boring anyway, Id rather stay comfy and at ease within subjectivity.
