Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are some people so negative towards the "dudebro" games? What do you think of them?

People are still using the term "weaboo"?

Because they're poseur crap. Everyone knows brodude games are the real deal.

I think the #1 reason for hating all those games is probably because all of them were true games at one point in their series' but now they have all become yearly rehash barely innovative games that just continue to do well for no reason. I don't hate any of the dudebro games I actually quite enjoy them all. The noticeable flaws and these games predecessors and successors should be recognized upon looking at the whole series.

COD was once a game that innovated with each sequel and had a nice fairly balanced multiplayer up until maybe mw1 or waw. Then MW2 introduced all the additional unneeded crazyness to the series and now people hate it.

BF was once a hardcore elitist type PC game. The more console centric it became with bad company it was clearly obvious that battlefield 3 isn't/wasn't going to be a true successor (which it really isn't besides in name) to BF2 but thats a whole nother discussion, people now hate BF. BF4 now looks like exactly the same as bf3 just with minor improvements so yearly rehash COD style almost.

Killzone 2 also apparently had some hardcore following for its multiplayer and also a server browser with customizable setting but then Killzone 3 COD-ified its multiplayer with matchmaking and people hate it now.

Halo again with reach it added some Cod elements to its multiplayer and overall gameplay and that was very very minor but Halo 4 really really reached for Cod implementation and now multiplayer seems incredibly different in general. Now people hate halo.

Madden is Madden. Haters gon' hate.

These are not my personal views but these are the reasons it seems to me for when and why the hating started in the first place.

"Dudebros" are essentially dorks who are trying to emulate the style of people who are actually cool. They can't think for themselves, and are as a rule followers lacking any kind of creativity or ingenuity. They're the type of people who wear a backwards cap even though they aren't hip, watch UFC even though they're afraid of ever actually fighting, and talk about girls - or hang up posters of girls - they claim they would have sex with, even though their sexual experience ranges from highly limited to non-existant and their chances with the girls they talk about is non-existant.

These types are the primary target audience for games about MMA, Sports simulations, and military first person shooters - because these are the type of people who only fantasize about that kind of stuff and don't actually do any of it. They tend to think of themselves as being in the same category as athletes, cool people, and active military guys - but in reality they're dorks desperately hiding behind a facade.

That is the "Dudebro" in a nutshell.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Eh, it's just games that draw in games by easy access, such as cod, madden etc. Usually competitive and multiplayer friendly; its just that some games draw crowds and typical gamers can't get along with (now, this is being totally stereotypical); let's say...a CoD-only fanboy talking to someone who strictly plays League of Legends. Totally different stereotypical gaming background there. It's not necessarily a bad thing..but the negativity just comes from the different interests in the different crowds imo.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.

The industry needs games like Cod and Madden etc to keep growing, people can hate them all they like, but without them gaming would be trouble.

That statement is completely false. These type of games and how they affect the industry overall is mostly negative and aids in preventing real ingenuity as well as creativity in the industry. YAY for next gen Indie focus!

Sony and Microsoft need to make huge profit in software sales in order to compensate for all the loses they are making, that is mostly achieved from these huge selling games like Cod, Battlefield, Madden, Fifa etc.  If these games were not around software sales would plumet and not to mention some of the big publishers like EA and Activision would be crippled and might not be around which would be terrible for the gaming industry.  They have done nothing to impede creativity, if developers have to try to emulate others products for success lets face it they were not very creative to begin with.

The term comes from the obnoxious and insufferable humans who play these games online and attempt to appeal to males in the most basic menial manner of aggression.

Cause I think many of the loudest members of the gaming community are a bit anti jock culture. They are more of the alternative to the 'popular' style, more cool and artsy, so they are in some ways trying to reject and make fun of popular culture.

Like, "Oh, you like THAT?, everyone likes that."

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I love COD. Only COD (first one on PC), MW2 and BO2 though. I guess that makes me a dudebro. BF isn't really my cup of tea though.

Sorry, i think they are trash. I never buy them more than once in each series, if at all. Both FPS's and anual sports games are franchises that hardly change from game to game. I dont know how people can be bothered to buy the same game over and over.
