Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto: Retro Studios a very high priority for next Metroid game

Will you be happy if Retro made...

DCKR Trilogy 14 5.74%

Metroid 2D 35 14.34%

Prime 4 125 51.23%

Zelda 23 9.43%

Uncharted 15 6.15%

Other 31 12.70%

Total:243

Good news. Retro is one of Nintendo's greatest assets and I trust it to make a great Metroid game. But honestly I just want a new Metroid title -- developed by Retro or not.

Not enough experience so no.

So yes! Metroid Prime is very high quality game sir. And was their first shooter

Technically, the team formerly Iguanna also worked on Turok 1 and 2.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

That and Balloon Fight... and Takamaru's Ninja Castle?

Yes. But on the positive side this means Ice Climbers is even below those games in priority.

So is Star Fox.

Here's an idea... how about Retro makes MORE than just one game every 3 years or so?

I know right, that's f'n crazy... no way that'll ever happen.

Retro wasn't that big of a dev back then, recently, they've been expanding their Studios, and that "Retro is big enough to work on multiple projects at once" thing confirms it ^^

Still not as big as naughty dog though, that game studio has like what 3 times more people than retro.

This is kind of concerning to me... Maybe there's another way to read it, but this implies they haven't even started on a new Metroid game.

Even Other M took 3 years to produce, and Prime 3 took over 2 years to release just from when it was first shown off, let alone from when it actually started production.

Even assuming they perfectly nail production and get something out in 2 years, that points to the end of 2015, with 3 years pointing to the end of 2016 seeming more likely...

And Wave Race, but you know, always look on the bright side of life...

Wave Race* is in another console, developed by Rare.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  Here's to hoping the article is actually REALLY old.
