There's still hope. A Metroid made by Retro. Or at least, Miyamoto says so:

“Retro is a very capable studio and can design a lot of different types of game and I know that because I produced Metroid Prime”

“I think Retro has really come to a point at which it’s possible for it to have multiple lines running at the same time and having different projects in development. I totally think there are possibilities to see different projects from Retro in the future.”

Aside from the captain obvious, he continued:

“Certainly the Metroid franchise is one that, when you talk about really bringing the world to life, we feel that Metroid and the characters established are really important for Nintendo. So important that they were included, obviously, in Nintendo Land.

I definitely think it’s a franchise that we value and we certainly want to see what we can do with it in the future. And, obviously, Retro is a very high priority in terms of the potential team that would be considered for working on a Metroid game.”

Slaves to make DK, freedom to make Metroid.

Tell us about your feelings, F-Zero fans.

According to Retro themselves and Miyamoto in the same itnerview as above they wanted to make DK first.

The prime series is done. They should make a different metroid series now.

Well, to be honest, they won't say they were forced. Although, maybe they wanted to make firstly a new trilogy (DKC) before they go back to Metroid or a new franchise.

So they CAN make multiple games, if I remember right, some time ago they said it was impossible, so they were lying, what could indicate they have a project other than DKCTF. BELIEVE!

Yeah, another project. The third DK game and finally put to rest this trilogy.

They never said impossible. They said only one small and one big title at a time. DK:TF never seemed that big of a title for me when speaking about dev time and resources!!!

anyways, i want either Metroid Prime 4, or a completely new IP (they need to make something other than DK and Metroid at somepoint you know!)

maybe both, that "multiple projects at the same time" thing has piqued my curiousity.

Seeing what they have done with Donkey Kong Country I really want Retro to make a new 2D Metroid.
