Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U WiFi issues - WiFi dropping out.

I've had my Wii U since day 1, and recently the WiFi has been dropping out every so often. Sometimes resetting the console solves the problem, but usually it doesn't. I don't think it's my broadband hub because my iPhone and other WiFi devices report no connection issues. I recently upgraded my hub which is supposed to have better WiFi technology and is supposed to have less 'dropouts' in connection.

Does anyone else have similar problems with their Wii U or is it just me? As you can tell, this is highly annoying for me as it prevents games from being played online, and downloads get halted when the connection is lost.

I have actually been experiencing this issue as well over the past 3 days and I've been a day 1 wiiu owner as well. Happy to know I'm not the only one having this problem.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

I have the same problem. Usually it works fine, but then I migh access an site like VGchartz and all the images are question marks. So I have to reload the page, often multiple times. I also sometimes have to click reload on videos 9 times in a row before it starts. Then maybe the next day it's fine again. Going into system settings and just testing the connection often makes it work again, but not always. And my internet works with my 3ds, wii, phone and pc's everywhere in my house, so I'm not really sure what the problem is.

my advice is just screw WiFi and connect your router to the Wii with a wire. that way its a MUCH more stable connection and less latency, its much much better for gaming. trust me, once you go wired you will never go back

Same here mostly every image is a questionmark every YouTube Video has to reload all the time if it works at all. I am pretty disappointed because alle other devices work fine and are far more away from the Router. Wii lan Adapter works perfectly fine maybe we should address this Problem directly to Nintendo...

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

Thx for the responses, good to know I'm not the only one! I might give the wired option a try, only problem is that my hub is in a different room from my Wii U, so I don't know if the cable would reach?!

If its too far away try lan over powerlines works very well but still that shouldnt be the solution...

Yeah, I'll try this aswell.

I was thinking it may be a problem that could be fixed through a future system update, but after reading the above posted solution it may be the way the system is set up. The Wii U had some OS issues from day 1, some have been resolved but there are still freezing issues, maybe the WiFi problem occured from problems caused by the last update; who knows?!
