Well technically you can't say they dropped the ball when Rockstar said themselves that they are focusing on the current gen systems.

What will be interesting is when it is annouced for PS4/ONE what will they call it then when Wii U missed out.

For everyone saying Nintendo doesn't need GTA (one of the biggest ips out there) or that it wouldn't move consoles is truly mind numbing! To say a game that sells 5 million+ on every other console wouldn't help the Wii U even a little is abit crazy because if this game came to the Wii U it would push at least 2 to 3 million copies and sell quite a few consoles IMO and while that's low compared to what the 360 and PS3 will do its another game in the Wii U's stock which is lacking atm. As a owner of a Wii U i'm gonna need more then 10 games a year for it and even though i'm not a fan of the GTA series i can see the potential of this game on the Wii U and it's potential buyers.

Nintendo can not support a console on their own (looks at Gamecube sales) and while the Wii was a hit, it does not look as though the Wii U will be repeating its success which leads me to believe that if Nintendo doesn't turn its fate around with 3rd parties that Gamecube sales are more likely for this console. So yes we need big ips like GTA and other games as well to hit the Wii U for the future of its well being.

Nintendo doesn't have money to buy Rockstar(besides, it's not for sale, if you know what i mean), or even to buy exclusive rights for GTA 5(incl. temporary).
Plus, hardware still doesn't look good, that is one fail that cause many other(possibly the fact, that there is no GTA for U, too) .
So they screwed themselves in any possible way, and yes, Wii U needs every game including GTA 5, there have been many talks on multiplatform on Wii U, and suddenly nobody needs multiplatform game #1 on Wii U, wtf is wrong with you?

They did. I don't have a platform to play the game, since my ps3 kicked the bucket. I'm borrowing a 360 to play the game. Would have bought it on wii u.

That's a has been franchise and Watch Dogs is the brand new.

Well, to be fair, Mario Kart 8 has a healthy chance, on it's own, of outselling GTAV.

That isn't to say Wii U wouldn't benefit from having games like GTAV available for it.

With a 40 mln install base(top LT sales for U) - maybe, but there is none)

I agree! "has been awesome in the past, and will continue to be"

But don't worry, once they see the Wii U Watchdog sales, they will literally beg Nintendo to allow them to put GTAV on the Wii U

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
