Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 still has 'triple-A exclusives' in development, Sony responds to lack of new Uncharted

No i thought they wasnt supporting the ps4 at all -_-

The main complaint people has is that it has very little to offer or have shown for the incoming future.

People do know games are in development though.  I wouldnt take people as dumb. Just not patient.

@Bold:  Well there are some who act like they don't have any triple AAA games at all across the interwebz.  It happened with MS too after their X1 reveal, but they shut people up about that.  And then over 3/4 of the people wanting to show them are impatient.  I for one am in the impatient boat, but I also think sony is doing right by not showing them so they can have a lot left to show if ps4 hype starts to die down.  But I don't think that will happen for both consoles till the end of spring.

Lets look at what ND did this generation.

Holiday 2007 - Uncharted
Holiday 2009 - Uncharted 2
Holiday 2011 - Uncharted 3
Summer 2013 - The Last of Us

So I see it going this way...

Holiday 2014 - Uncharted 4
Holiday 2016 - Uncharted 5
Holiday 2017 -The Last of Us 2

Full production into U4, followed by the team split again with the U3 team working on U5 and TLoU team working on TLoU2. After this, no idea. We may get Uncharted 6 or another new IP.

Now, for Sony Santa Monica its different because they work with so many other dev teams. God of War 4 will likely be released 2015/16, but hints at a new IP are quite strong...

you mean Uncharted 4 and uncharted 5?

as for sony santa monica, its pretty sure they are working on a new IP for the PS4. A producer from battlestar galagtica said he has been working with them for over 2 and a half years. he also says it is NOT a god of war game. he also says that the ascension team went to work with the main team on the game after ascension released, which in total is 150 people.  also on the PS4 release event in feb they showed a video about devs talking about the PS4. stig, the director of GoW3 was shown in the video, but hasnt been working on ascension. so its pretty clear he is working with the new team, and working for a game on the PS4. its a sci-fi new ip, and i am really interested to see what it is

Im not really impatient, im just not interested yet. Im just going to wait to buy the PS4 personally.  When they start releasing some big games ill get one.  As for the people saying Sony has no games at all coming, some of that may be coming from console wars.

As for business strategies, Sony has basically lived off of PR the last few months so they will be fine with people buying it this holiday at least.

Uncharted should be a 7th Gen game, leave it there. I would like a new franchise.

The Last of Us.

isn't that like, the most common thing ever? a video game manufacturer developing AAA titles for it's own platform.

Yeah but I would consider those console war peeps dumb.

Yeah I agree that Sony is just riding the wave of awesome PR and hype so far.  I can't wait for the VGA's though since I, as well as many others, believe Naughty Dog will show their new PS4 game(Uncharted 4 or die). Maybe Sony Santa Monica too.

I'm a little torn, I would like a new Uncharted, a new The Last Of Us and a new IP from ND. I can't decide what I would like the most.

Putting Uncharted to one side would not be a smart business move though. Sony actually have a a franchise on their hands that's sold over 18 million units in one generation. The last game in the series might actually be the biggest yet showing there might even be room for further growth with the next gen. They have a marketable and easily identifiable mascot in Nathan Drake and there is definitely a fanbase looking forward to another title.

It's weird that he has to clarify this.

Sony don't need to announce them yet. They've got plenty of people on board for the launch and then some.

Early next year, then yeah, I'd start expecting more announcements.

I think they are trying to do the same thing as M$ and the specs thing.  When the internet gets a bug up its butt, they never let go until the idea is proven to be wrong.  There seems to be a lot of chatter throughout the internet complaining about AAA support on the PS4.   Most people on this site recognize the why, but most other people don't get it.  So, Sony guy has to make a comment to just make a minor point.  Hopefully, Sony doesn't beat the horse dead like M$.
