It's late, and it's clear I'm doing more harm then good at this point. So best to let this rest from my seat and get back to you guys with the most credible source."

this.

even if for a second we assume ps4 is truthfact 30% more powerful we all know it will take a pixel counting site like lens of truth to really see it.  there was plenty of performance discrepency between ps360 and it never hurt ps3.  just shut up 'cause you're drawing attention to a discussion that only hurts you.

so you aren't?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Well it's not surprising. The only reason their were differences between 360 and PS3 is that the architecture was so different.

Multiplats likely won't get much special care between versions, unless they have a PC version, but even then it will probably just be a "raw power" upgrade rather then working with the PS4's special intricacies.

The PS3 architecture forced unique programming... making either the 360 or PS3 version better depending on where the resources were allocated.

the PS4's doesn't.

I don't understand why people don't get this. PS4 is more powerful, yes. It is all up to the devs to exploit this power. History has shown multiplat devs don't care about optimization if it isn't necessary. It has always been up to 1st parties to squeeze performance out of a console. 3rd parties care more for the botton line than putting out the best version. The PS4 and One have almost identical architecture with the PS4 having a slight edge because of its lack of eSRAM. That means that theoretical gap will be pretty close to the gap in reality. Only 1st parties will take advantage of that.

werent we expecting devs to target parity as much as possible due to sensitive fans?

I guess this will be the excuse when PS4 doesn't live up to the promises?

I'm still waiting for the Toy Story 2 like graphics they promised with the ps2:)

"The PS4's GPU is very programmable. There's a lot of power in there that we're just not using yet. So what we want to do are some PS4-specific things for our rendering but within reason - it's a cross-platform game so we can't do too much that's PS4-specific," he reveals.

"There are two things we want to look into: asynchronous compute where we can actually run compute jobs in parallel... We [also] have low-level access to the fragment-processing hardware which allows us to do some quite interesting things with anti-aliasing and a few other effects."

Ubisoft Reflections on porting The Crew to the PS4. Games will obviously look almost identical initially because of time restraints. It does suggest though that some third parties may be considering some degree of optimization for a specific platform, but it will probably have to wait until the second wave of titles.

Straight from the horses mouth. It's a cross-platform game so we can't do too much that's PS4-specific. What does PS4 have that the One doesn't? More power.

Of course xbox one and ps 4 are equal, playstationfanboys wanted to tell us the wohl last generation how much more powerful the ps 3 is but no one ever saw this wannabe ps3 power and the generation before it was the same with the ps2 I still remeber all the promises for ps2 and this generation it will be the same playstationfanboys will try to convince us how much more powerful the ps4 is compared to xbox one but again no one ever will see it based on the games. Penello is absolutely right the best way is to stop talking about this issue its pointless to discuss with fanboys.

I wonder what the excuse will be when the hype train derails.
"MS paid off sony to sand bag their hardware"
"MS paid off all the 3rd party developers to make there software look worse on ps4"

No one will say that. They will say, "well duh, look at how they handled the ps360 multiplats compared to first party exclusives this gen"

If you and Penello are right, then why is he going out of his way to engage in the discussion? He didn't have to start a Neogaf account. He doesn't have to post about power differences on twitter. Yet he does. Why for? You can't start throwing shit at people then tell them we shouldn't be throwing shit at each other with a turd in your hand. The consoles are not equal. Penello has pretty much admitted this himself. First specs didn't matter, it was the games that did. Then the cloud made your One 3x more powerful. Next he tried to imply their SW engineers could somehow even the gap. Then he started posting FUD on Neogaf. Now that he gets called on his bullshit he says, hey guys can't we all just get along, lets not talk about this anymore. It's not fanboys that are the problem. It's that Penello opened his mouth in the first place.
