Forums - Sony Discussion - Buying Question.....New Vita vs. Old Vita

I've been interested in buying a Vita for a while now and since they've announced a new Vita out East I'm not sure if I should wait for the new model or go with the current. I think we are all sure that eventually the new model will come out West. If some of you guys can give me some advice on the new vs. the old I would really appreciate it. I'm not the greatest expert on the "specs" of products and would just like to know what others think. Thanks in advance on all your responses.

I think you might as well wait holiday for a good $150-$160 bundle (with a memory card). They just announced price cut, they aint bringing here before Feb 2014 imo. That said isnt the OLED screen>>> LCD? I mean its just a $10 difference or i could be wrong?

If you want it now, don't hesitate and buy a "fat" right now. I mean OLED>>>>>>>>>>>LCD no matter how good, colour reproduction, saturation, black levels will all be inferior in the new model. There are some positive tweaks of course but it's not worth it. I am yet to buy my Vita, I don't have the money this year, so I just hope we won't get the 2000 model for at least half a year which I think I plausible cause I won't settle for the new one and will be forced to get the 1000 model sooner than I want to.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

This should make the choice obvious.

LCD is just so dirty.

Both models are pretty much the same except the older one has OLED which s better then LCD. In reality though, unless you compare them side by side you probably won't have any issue with the newer models LCD display.

The deciding factor then should be price. ALthough the newer model will likely be cheaper when it comes out $169, Its probably not being released til early 2014 in the west and instead you'll probably find killer deals come this holiday for the old vita ($199+memory card+game). Unless you really want one of the swanky colours, I say go for the original.

The perks of the new model, other than the internal memory, don't seem to be very important. It's a little big smaller and a little bit lighter. Also, that internal memory is pretty much nothing, you're still going to need a memory card.

My advice, if I'm being honest, is to wait until the week of Black Friday and get whichever one is the best deal. Last year, I got mine for $179 with two games and a memory card.

Seriously? This is madness. I need to get an old model before they phase them out if the difference is actually that big.

I can't agree with the first paragraph, just play in a dark room and every person will notice when "black" is pretty much dark gray on LCD, and really black on OLED. The difference will be like night and day in that regard.

I would choose 2000 because of the usb charger thingy.
Though that screen really is ugly compared to the 1000

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?
