Forums - Sony Discussion - Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN is coming to PS3 and PS4

Originally Arc System Works let the world know that Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- was in development and that it would be running on the Unreal Engine 3. The news and debut video was exhilarating. Today, however, Arc System Works confirmed during Sony's Tokyo press conference that Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- will be exclusive to the PlayStation brand.

As noted on their official page that contains the video...

We are pleased to announce that the game is currently under development for the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 consoles. Check out the stunning 3D graphics and music composed by Daisuke Ishiwatari for this ground breaking new title.

It's another big win for Sony as one of the most highly anticipated next-generation fighting games will be arriving only on the PlayStation consoles at launch. Also, unlike Yakuza Ishin, it's much more likely that Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- will be available stateside much earlier than Sega's feudal-based gangster game.

Many gamers within the FGC are also very excited about this new entry into the Guilty Gear franchise, as it opens up the game for a ton of possibilities, especially now that the game is in 3D.

That's right, Arc System switched from the typical 2D, sprite-based engine they usually rely on to provide gamers with break-neck speed side-scrolling combat and decided to give Epic Games' Unreal Engine a go.

The new 3D character and stage designs opens up a wealth of opportunities for the series, as it means that characters can now get new costumes, stages can get destroyed, new weapons and skins are possible, and when it's time to make a sequel they can easily recycle the older assets while maintaining a certain level of fidelity that usually makes it difficult for 2D fighters to accommodate.

The FGC has also rallied their forces and put in a strong petition to get Arc System Works to port the game to the Wii U, so hopefully some good things can come out of that.

You can learn more about Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- by paying a visit to the game's official website. You can also check out the original trailer for GG XS below to be reminded about how fast the gameplay is and just how dynamic the fights can be.

Makes sense. The PlayStation market is biggest for these types of games, right now.

I'm a Guilty Gear fan (hopefully they can fit Baiken into the roster), so I'll definitely pick this game up on release (likely the PS4 version), and hopefully fans can convince Arc System Works to put it out on the Wii U as well.

Awesome!

I'll get this if it doesnt eventually come out on PC.

I'll get this eventually when it comes to the iphone 5C :D

^ ^ I believe Sony is helping fund this guys (as they are rumored to be on a new, exclusive Bloody Roar for PS4). Wouldn't hold my breath on other platforms.

Yeah, the PS4 release date in Japan may be late, but looks like the games will be there. I wonder if there will be more announcements during TGS.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

"At least PS4 gamers can rest assured that unlike a certain other company, they will have plenty of support several years into the launch of the console without want for content."

That's a bit of a cheap dig.
