Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is the 3ds really that much better than Vita?

Yes.

Is that what you wanted to hear?

3DS has more exclusives that are good than the Vita, although Vita has a lot of games that are altogether better than what the 3DS offers.

The Vita is the better system when comparing games regardless what system said game is on. Handheld usually have a library completely filled with exclusives. Even the same games released on the handheld a lot of times was an exclusive on Nintendo consoles because it played completely different than the console and PSP version.

That's the problem with Vita being so close in power to a console is instead of getting its own games, it's getting games that the consoles are getting. Hopefully with the PS Vita TV and the the PS4 and Xbox One coming out, the Vita will get its own games rather than share games with its bigger and better PS3 brethren.

So based on all games the Vita is better, based on exclusives only, the 3DS is way better.

If you enjoy playing games, buy a 3DS. For all other desires look to other devices.

The best games on any current handheld are on the 3DS. That's all that needs to be said.

No, it is just a coincidence that 3DS controls 85% of the market. All joking aside, my main issue is that most good games on the Vita are western games. They generally dont make good games for handhelds anymore. Now, that was not a problem for the psp because it had a healthy mixture of both western and japanese games, most of which were original and appropriate for a handheld (yes even the american ones). Now, I'm starting to see shooters and watered down versions of console games instead of something like action platformers. Not that I blame them, since the vita has the specs to handle it and they can port them fairly easy but the original games are seriously lacking. Their saving grace is only sony's first party studios which in turn waste their time on killzone mercenary. The only title I'd be interested that they make is tearaway.

To justify the statement that the Vita's library is better than the 3DS, you list one game that hasn't come out yet, 2 multiplatform games (one of which is on the 3DS), two games that came out within the last two weeks (and one that came out today if you live in NA and a week ago if you live in Europe), and a post of a PS2 game. I love it.

I would counter with... New Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem Awakening, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Kid Icarus Uprising, Etrian Odyssey IV, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart 7, Pilotwings Resort (very underrated game that's well worth the 20 bucks or less you can get it for), Nintendogs + Cats, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Final Fantasy Theatrythm, Rhythm Thief, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. If we're also including ports, multiplats, and non-existent games, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Pokemon X/Y, Monster Hunter 4, Star Fox 64, Ocarina of Time 3D, A Link Between Worlds, Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney 5, Mario Golf, and Smash Bros 3DS.

If you like the Vita's library better, that's fine. We're all entitled to our own opinions. But if you're trying to argue with any level of objectivity that the Vita's library has anywhere close to as many quality games as the 3DS, you've got no leg to stand on.

I really wanted to like the Vita and buy it... But I ended up getting a 3DS. And I don't regret it, in fact I am so glad I did. The library of games it currently has is excellent and it can only get better... So yeah 3DS is better at least for me!

Well, I don't have a Vita so I can't say if either is better or not, but I would guess it has to do with the fact that it doesn't have games that have really broad appeal like the 3DS. I'm not interested in any games on Vita, but i'm sure they are great.
