My 7870 XT is only 2gb... I'm I screwed?

Not screwed, but probably should stay away from Ultra or intensive AA methods such as MSAA or SSAA

ah, I can do that, thanks.

AMD six-core? Why my AMD quad-core is definitely better than some Intel quad-cores.

AMD has lower per-core performance, the Thuban's IPC (Phenom 2 x6) is actually lower than the later model Core 2 chips released 6+ years ago, Bulldozer and in-turn Piledriver is lower than that.
Of course AMD makes up for that deficit with higher clockspeeds and more cores, which the game engine will take advantage of, scaling beyond 4 threads in say a 64 player Multi-player match, Intel doesn't need as many cores, because, well. It essentially does more work with less cores than AMD.

If you are single player only gamer, then probably like Battlefield 3, you could run the game on pretty much any CPU made within the last decade, it's just not that demanding on the CPU.

Interested to see how the game runs on my AMD rig though, with an FX 8120 @ 4.8ghz and Dual Radeon 6950's unlocked into 6970's, the GPU's are getting a little long in the teeth these days being several years old and trying to push games at 5760x1080.
I'll probably be severely video memory limited on my main rig though. :(

talking about PR bull#@, on E3 were running on windows 7 gtx cards and the game ran flawless, and now they recommend win 8 ? hahaha now the truth comes to light, about BF4 on PS4 not running well.

Not buying this game, well done EA you save me from wasting 60 bucks, thanks ;)

Wut?

It's clearly windows 8, notice that there is no "Start" button on the task bar. Also they weren't using GTX cards, they were HD 7970s.

And they reccomend Win 8 because they take advantage of some of the features of DX11.1 (exclusive to win8) that allow them to reduce the CPU overhead.

And some Intel quad-core are way better than your AMD quad-core.

I wonder how my notebook's 2gigs 7730 is going to handle this, if it will... It has the 8gigs and ivybridge though.

GTX's are still only 11.0 anyways aren't they? Has any games actually taken advantage of 11.1 yet?

Well...I almost meet the recommended specs :P

I think that was his point. Listing "AMD six-core and Intel quad-core" is very broad and doesn't make a whole lot of sense when there are quad-cores from each company that are better than some of the quad-cores from the other company.

Kepler doesn't fully support DX11.1 no, it's funny because on the AMD side GCN will even support DX11.2 with a driver update. AMD has quite the history of pushing tech that gets included in DX spec and have usually been the first to support the last few revisions.

As far as I know BF4 is also the first game to tout support for 11.1.
