Neowin

Microsoft will be holding a press event in New York on September 23rd to announce new products that will include the second generation of Surface devices.

If you want an early look at what the new devices will likely include, you can check out our exclusive posts that detail the specs of the Surface Pro 2, specs of the Surface RT 2, the new Power Cover and a dock for the Surface Pro.

Additionally, it looks like the Surface Mini will not be making an appearance at this event.

Make sure to keep watching Neowin as we will continue to bring you more Surface news this week and we will also be covering the press event on the 23rd as well.

I don't get the big deal about tablets....... but I guess I'm in the minority because apparently there really popular. Anyway enough of me ranting maybe this time around MS will price the Surface at a more competitive price point that when they launched the last one.

They need to start taking the Games store more seriously. It's sad how many XBL games there are on there since W8 launch.

I believe they get a considerable storage boost.  I suspect they'll also feature the same price as the Pro and RT originally came out at.

Based on a patent out either Tuesday or Thursday of last week, I'm guessing that the kickstand refinement is the ability to rotate the kickstand or a dual kickstand so that you can use it with both a portrait and landscape mode.  Not just the landscape mode.

Note:  The US Patent office now uses PDF files, so you no longer need a TIFF viewer to view patents.

I have the first Surface Pro. Based on the speculated revised specs, I am interested in the upgrade. Either way, for what I use it for, it works great.

They are great for consumption, browsing the web, reading emails, books, skyping, VGChartz, Xbox SmartGlass, etc.  The Surfact RT has an HDMI connection so you can attach it to your most any TV for streaming.

The Surface RT, is only $349 and it's better than a more expensive Ipad.  How much lower do you want it to get?

The Surface Pro is full fledged computer, better than probably most of what people are browsing on with a 3rd gen Intel i5 (aka Ivory Bridge) (No, not your gamers).  My complaint is that it only has something like a 4 hour batter life, but if they put the new Intel chips in it, that should substatinally increase.  One could easily use it in place of a desktop.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

Still have my Sony Tablet S. Two years old, but still running without problems! I'll upgrade when that thing dies on me or something. I was kinda interested in the Surface Pro, but it is just waaaay too expensive. Also considering that keyboard, which would cost another 150 €. And forget about that touch keyboard, it's garbage imo.

If they bring an affordable surface with an i3 or even just a Pentium, I might consider buying it. But I'm not giving away 1.000 €+ for a tablet. For that price, I would just buy a Vaio Pro.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Hoping surface pro 2 is good enough to persuade me not to opt for a Lenova Yoga 2.
