Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apple's innovation problem is real

Tagged games:

God, I hate it when people only value technological innovation. Of course Apple didn't invent the computer or tablet but the point is that Apple was able to make these products simple enough to use. Technology evolves all the time but putting this technology into a consumer product is apparently so hard that all other companies on this planet failed to make a smartphone, tablet or mp3 player that actually *sold* to customers.

There is this huge double standard where Apple needs to innovate the hell out of every possible market and gets boo'd off the stage while other companies get huge credit for the same thing. I hope these people don't actually want Apple to pump out a revolutionary watch, car, kitchen and revolutionize artificial intelligence over the next decade because Apple certainly would rule the world by 2023 in that case.

And just for the record: Samsung makes great phones, I don't think Android is a mess, Windows is a great operating system and I can totally see why a lot of people choose other phones or tablets over Apple's products.

What apple really needs is to push for a full day battery. The line will have the be bulkier. But people want better batteries. Everything else is not important to upgrade. If They can make a battery that can last with everything at full power (WIFI/3-4G/Bluetooth enabled), that would sell. How much fatter can it really be anyway? The iPod Touch, which is rediculessly too thin to begin with. Putting in 3 of those battery packs would equal a day. The only other avenue is space. But since flash chips are still expensive. That is not a option. They could also see if they can put Siri on the device. So you don't need to use the freaking internet.

Despite being a diehard apple product user and huge fan of Mr Jobs, I will have to admit that things are no longer the same since the departure of the latter. The lack of imagination and vision is now pretty obvious by all and the latest iOS is a plain example. I really think that they need to get a grip on the fast moving market soon though!

Television is needed

The Iphone 1 was great. It started something new. By 3 Apple were way off the mark. Google phones were far better. And still are. WP8 is also far better than the static 2005 OS of Iphone 5s. Its like going back to an OS that refuses to move with the times. You have still click on an app to see what is new inside? Cmon Apple. Really?

The Ipad although a good seller is marred by the same ancient OS problems as the Iphone. I can get a Surface Pro 1 for the same price as the latest Ipad. And yet the latest IPAD has less than half the feature set and rubbish multitasking in comparison. I can connect any printer or HDD to a Surface Pro and even use full normal Desktop windows.

IMO buying an Apple product is a seriously bad informed decision. paying that amount of money for half the featureset ( Its probably less ) and an old static OS is just not right. Apple are geniuses for selling people this stuff.

I buy apple products because I know in a year they will be worth about 2/3 of what I bought them for. Can't really say that about any other product.

Apple didn't innovate or develop anything since the days of Wozniak.
Since then its all about buying or threatening others to give out their patents or just directly paying the fee for the stolen technology cause its cheaper that way.

Problem is, it's hard to create a "next big thing" at this point.

They can't get too far of what made them famous in the first place, but it's also dangerous to stay on the same spot.

Hate all you want, but the iPhone was a revolution upon release, even if it's not today.

Anybody who denies that is either hating on Apple, doesnt know better or simply in denial. i used to say other wise back in the day, but when you look at it objectively there is no denying that the iPhone was a revolution that changed the market landscape dramatically.
