From what I remember hearing, ps3 has the most netflix user. If that's true my opinion would be people own 360's to play games. PS3's get used for media. Kind of makes me question the qualitiy of sony's games.

Or, the PS3 is used for both media and games. But, I know, makes too much sense...

Explain the overall lower software sales.....

I believe that's been explained ten times over in here already. But, interesting thought, why does the PS3 outsell the 360 if it can barely sell games? Why does it outsell the Wii? Gaming consoles, with the least incentives to pick them up, aren't supposed to outsell the competition that has even more games. Makes no sense. ;)

Nobody saidPS3 barely sales games, they just don't sell as much:).  PS3 outsells the 360 because they want a blu-ray player, not so much for games:) PS3 is currently outselling the wii, but the wii has sold  (don't remember the exact number) around 100 give/take consoles. Wii is still number 1 in total sales.

Yes, people want a $300 blu-ray player rather than any of the much cheaper ones on the market. Netflix is used more on the PS3 because it isn't behind a paywall like it is on the 360. And the PS3's software sales are easily explained by the fact that it had the lowest install base for the vast majority of its time on the market, as made evident by the fact that it has sold 9m more pieces of software than the 360 so far this year, now that they have equivalent install bases.

Come on dude. You don't have to like all the consoles/makers, but this is getting out of hand. The first time I talked to you on this site you were complaining that Sony fans were doing anything they could to try and discredit Nintendo, no matter how ridiculous. And this is certainly true of some of them. Yet every post I've seen of yours since then has been an attempt to do the same thing to Sony. And yes, your attempts have been just as ridiculous as those of the types of people you were criticizing.

Huge difference:). Back then I was criticising people posting opinions as facts without anything what so ever to back it up. In this thread I expressed an opinion based on the facts. PS3 has a slightly larger install base but sold about 100 million less games. At the same time they are the number netflix users...... That tells me either the "awesome" games I've been hearing about arn't so awesome and/or the are mostly using there ps3's for media playback. I apologise if I irretated you as that was not my goal. Just answering my the main question of this thread:).

The attach rate is marginally higher on 360, but this late in the gen, most people have PS3 and Xbox 360. the majority of multiplatform owners will naturally opt for 360 because of gamerscore, XBLA friends, better controller and better online, such is pretty much the case with everybody I know.

Why would people buy a game for gamerscore? There has to be a better reason than that to buy a multiplatform game on Xbox over PS3 or other formats. I like earning trophies but they would never make me buy a game just for that. They aren't anything serious i don't think.

Alot of people have both consoles. Since most multiplats are identical, you would need a reason or toss coin to decide which version to buy. For some people it's preferred controller, others it might be trophy/acheivements.

Let's look at the overall Software sales L-T-DPS3: 691 Million 360: 777 Million (Both Rounded up for this example) Xbox: 86 Million pices of softwar lead over PS3 Say what you will, but a year head start doesn't equate to this large a difference Xbox 360 Has outsold PS4 EVERY YEAR TO DATE, with the excpetion of this year.  This doesn't mean its a better system, but definitly has made it's compny a lot more money. Sony is leading this year by 10 Million pieces of software, maily becouse MS hasn't done crap for new IPs or software.  At the end of the day it would take the PS4 8+ years to catch up. It will be much different this time around, but 86 million pieces of software equates to over 1 billion dollars in extra revenue (estimated)

Actually if you divide the number of copies sold by the number of years on the market you'll see that 86 mil is less than what these consoles sell in a year, so the X360 advantage pretty much comes from the year/year and a half headstart :P

Obviously the head start helped, but not that much. Your formula has you subtracting more SW for the first 1.5 years then was actually sold. Launch years are often have the slowest SW sales do to the limited install base.

I was always under the impression that it was because most multiplats are better optimized for 360. I've heard of so many damn problems with so many PS3 versions of games that I'd never touch one if I could get it on my Xbox.

But your netflix inquiry was already answered as was your bluray one, but you still chose to ignore those points. Its hard to take you seriously after that.

Originally multiplats were much better on 360. Now develpoers have learned to properly code the ps3, not so much anymore. Avoid Bethesda on PS3, Skyrim is a nightmare on ps3.

You're a joke..... Let's try it this way, if the 360 had a bluray drive and netflix wern't behind a paywall, would that mean the 360 would have sold less software? PS3 owners are don't buy as many games but watch more movies. 360 owners buy more games and watch less movies. As far as my earlier bluray comment, the first several years the ps3 was on the market it cost the same or less then a stand alone bluray player. What I said still holds true.

Which is why I wouldn't advise you to continue with him. ;)

lol.... I did reply, read above:). You know what keeps running through my head? You getting upset at somebody becuase they were disappointed Killzone SF single player isn't going to be 60 fps. What was it you called him? A "disgruntled xbox fan", even though he had also stated he's still excited to play the game. Way to wear you bias on your sleeve:P

If you look real hard at where the majoriy on those games are sold, u cyould answer that question yourself. PS3 games also have longer legs when it comes to sales while 360s sales are front loaded. It also depend on the genre, but the main reason is because the games the do sell better cater to western markets.

Its western games that sell better

360 North America+Europe=69.1m

PS3 North America+Europe=58.7m
