Forums - Gaming Discussion - What's a game you wish more developers ripped off?

Game design is an iterative process, which is to say everyone rips everyone off. Don't believe us? Play a shooter after 2007 that didn't have Gears of War's cover system and Call of Duty's leveling. Other times, developers seemingly ignore amazing ideas. Like Shadow of the Colossus--the fact that more games don't involve climbing giants is shocking to us.

What do you think; what games do you wish were ripped off more often?

We're going to have to go with Eternal Darkness. The Sanity Meter and Sanity Effects should have become a staple of horror games after Silicon Knights pretended to unplug our controller and faked a blue screen of death. Instead, they're forced to live a life in purgatory as Denis Dyack continues to try and fail to Kickstart a spiritual successor to the cult classic. Maybe that's the best Insanity Effect.

What's your pick? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to tell us both the game and the thing you wish was ripped off!

Good question and something i've been meaning to create a thread for. So what are your picks and or ideas about this subject?

Personally i would love a lot of Dark Souls games, good ones of course. Or games that look like how Final Fantasy was once ago. You know, Steampunk, Knights and Dragons :D

All games should rip off the banal conversations from Deadly Premonition. Seriously, I spent hours hearing the main character talking to himself o.O

lol try Dragon Age the first one i'de say.

Yes those could be a lot of fun, i like it when present in a game. But only when it's done well, not like it's the way now with most FPS games.

I've beaten Dragon Age (the first one xD) many times :P

But the problem is, Dragon Age had you locked talking to a character. From time to time, though, your companions would talk between them, and those are the kind of conversations I'm saying. Deadly Premonition had literally hundreds of those conversations that didn't interrupt the flow of the game (Most of them were while you were driving) and it certainly made travelling far more interesting.

Turok 2 Seeds of Evil (N64)

every level is big as any Call of Duty game. Dinosaurs and aliens combined in one game is awesome. its freaking hard its almost a survival game. even the AI is better lol

Sony should do a version of Smash Bros

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?
