Forums - Sports Discussion - Tokyo will host Olympic Games in 2020

I love Japan, but honestly I don't think they have any business getting the Olympics. A lot of people don't realize how bad that nuclear meltdown has been and how poorly handled it has been.

I guess the only benefit of this is now the Japanese government should be under more pressure to start handling the situation properly to avoid embarrassment.

Yep. Japan will have their nuclear issues by 2020.

Nah radiation just goes away after 9 years, nothing to worry about, lol ;).

I was supposed to go to Japan next year, but honestly I'm probably going to go elsewhere.

Anyways....so Korea got the 2018 Winter Olympics and Japan got the 2020 Summer one.

Oh my god the countries are going to try to one up each other sooooo hard. It's going to be glorious.

Good, I personally could have been glad for Madrid too, but Turkey? Nah.
Either way even if Turkey would get it, it wouldn't be as baffling as Qatar Football World Cup

Im still hurting from that one, this was Australia's chance. We were a nation on the rise in the footbal/soccer world and then our dreams were crushed by some old rich guys in a country that no one in the football world has even heard of

They will clear a great deal of it, but they will still have issues. It takes a while to clear. Fukushima radiation has almost hit the coast of California.

If they can do something nearly as good as China's opening ceremony that would be sufficient. Apparently Korea really dropped the ball during the 1988 one.

I don't think they will outspend China, but they will beat them out in creativity.
