So, it sounds like I would be fired. Sucks too since I was a guy who started out working in the stock room and worked my way up into the offices and working production control. All within the 5 years where I have become a more regular user. I even have my company awards on my desk for standing out amongst my co-workers.

 

 


Damn, thats pretty harsh. Hard to believe any job would be intolerant of pot, like hell, it's pretty much accepted and seen and mostly legal here anyways... though I've never worked an office job, not sure how stick things are in those settings.

As for the question, I guess my answer is 'no'.  I don't know if marijuana should be illegal or not but I'm not a fan.  I got out of the drug culture a long time ago but I had a few friends who couldn't pull free and they were never the same.  It might not be quite fair to blame marijuana for all of that but it was the cataylst.  I don't think the world would be a better place if it were legal.

Still, as with alchohol, most of the problems are with abuse rather than normal usage.  Cigarettes are what I have the biggest problem with because of how addictive they are.

I can never smoke a day in my life and die of lung cancer.

Well, the problem that sprung this whole thing into action was that they found that some of our shop mechanics were going out on their breaks and getting stoned, then returning to work and manufacturing the aircraft parts.

The irony in it all though is that the biggest culprit is the same mechanic who got the Employee of the Month award for July.

Making alcohol or tobacco illegal won't stop anyone from using it. During the Prohibition Era, the rate of alcohol related crimes actually went up.

Agreed.  Makes me question why we seem to think prohibition on marijuana is the way to continue.

If making it illegal stopped it yeah. I would rather have more drugs banned then not and a whole lot of people drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. However if marijuana got onto the level of smoking cigarettes then it might become a problem as well.

I think it's ridiculous it's illegal. I can't use it myself, makes me paranoid as hell, but it's pathetic that it's illegal and alcohol isn't. Alcohol is a million times worse for a person.

Yes, I would support legalization, of pot and any other banned substance.

Government prohibitions are proven to not work. All they do is breed crime and drive the substances underground where a black market is created. Creates way more problems than it solves.

Making pot illegal hasn't stopped anyone from doing it, it's just stopped people from doing it out in the open.
