It will pass PS3's lifetime sales and it will barely surpass PSone's. So 105 millions.

I'll go crazy, 135 millions with a huge boost on total consoles sales from gen 7 to gen 8.

Sony will still have a perfect record of each home console breaking 100 mill

so I think PS4 will also break 100 mill at the least

75-80 million is a bit too conservative IMHO if you consider that even the PS3 did these numbers already and:

a). PS3 faced fierce competition from Xbox 360, one of the most balanced console fights ever, since Genesis X Super NES;
b). PS3 went up against the Wii fad;
c). PS3 launched at 599 and had terrible reputation, among other things;
d). PS3 is at around 80M and shows no sign of stopping sales any soon despite its terrible start.

On the other hand, PS4 is launching cheaper than the competition (Xbone), has a lot of good press going for it, has momentum from this generation's end (PS3 is the winner atm), has extremely strong third party support, Nintendo is not doing so well this time around (Wii U in dire straits, although I believe it will improve soon, it hardly will be a Wii again).

So all things considered Sony will have to mess up a lot to sell only 80M PS4's, or the market will crash and burn really hard for that to happen.

Why, are you really going to say that the Wii wasn't a fad?  The Wii without the motion controllers was another 25-30 million selling unit.  With the motion controls, it became a sensation(FAD).  Like all fads, it lasted a few years and poof!  You look at how the games have sold on the Wii.  Besides the pack ins, with a 100 million install base?  If people bought the system and really used it more than a few times, they definitely didn't buy more games.

If the PS3 could pull numbers like it had with it starting at $600. I could see the PS4 getting upwards of 110M starting at $400
