Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One thumbsticks could cause damage to your thumbs?

He is the only one complaining about it though all other reviews so far have been extremely positive he must have weird shaped hands.  Also I'm left handed and for me the 360 controller is the best one out there and I'm sure I will have no problem with the X1 controller since its basically the same.  On top of that I rarely play FPS so I mainly only use the left analouge stick a lot which is perfectly postioned for a left handed person.

Sounds like a bunch crap. It worked, a bunch of people showed up to his site.

If this really was a problem then he wouldn't be the only one complaining about it.

Not only did he say that, but he also said the PS4 thumbsticks gave him tighter control than he has experienced before, while the One triggers are perhaps better.

I hope we'll see PC drivers for the DS4 because I definitely would want to use that instead of my DS3 now.

Edit: Don't know why he says Sony didn't change the controller much, though. Well, maybe he doesn't have too much experience with Sony consoles. I think he is mainly a PC gamer.

or he doesnt know what he is talking about.

Positive for PS4, negative for x1, he automatically doesn;'t have a clue... Many sites who have used the controllers said the same thing.

This is bull. I have not heard of anyone other than this video saying the indent on the thumbsticks hurt their thumb.

Proof?

Ok, jumping in here.  From my experiences with the Xbox One Controller.

First I would would like to describe the texture then feel of the thumb sticks.  It soft of a medium soft vinyl rubber feel.  It gives a little when you poke it, and sort of feels like you are touching skin, but not in a creepy way.  It's   (I'm a bit sensitive  to tactile myself, and didn't like my car as much until I gave it a leather wrapped steering wheel. Yea, I'm kinda diva-ish that way.  The natural texture was just much nicer than the synthetic feel of native wheel.  And I also am really particular about the type of keyboard I use.)

The thumb sticks are definably not hard plastic, they are defiantly have more feel than the current ones.  As I said, they  have a little give, and it's sort of like they are holding your thumbs back too - so a sliding off by accident is unlikely to happen.  I don't honestly know how he could be getting an indentation.  Perhaps he pushes really, really hard - and I would think he would have quite a bit of trouble with the harder ones on the current Xbox 360.  To be clear it feels like you thumb and the stick are working together.  Think of a cold gummy worm - just a tiny bit of give.

The texture is exactly like the large lego tire wheel if you have felt that.  It use to come with the expert car kit. (check out the large tires all the way on the right, top or bottom.  They are a very specific feel that is unlike anything else.)

It's also a tiny little texture.  You notice it, but it's not harsh in my experience. Let's take a look at them:

While yes, it may look tough, remember it's that medium hard vinyl. plastic stuff.   They look harsher than they feel.  I honestly think the would be ok, with that texture an hard plastic, but with the softer plastic, they are a little harder than the pro sticks my friend puts on his X360 controller.

Now, as far as your stick.  Go and get your X360 controller - see how you can wiggle the sticks just little bit (works best the controller is off.)  See that little bit of rocking there?  I didn't find any in the Xbox One Controller at all.  It was precisely lined up with the center.

DL/DR:  Not sure why he is saying that, different than my experience, perhaps he pushes very hard, as I think he would have a tough time with the current X360 controller.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Of the people (non scientific) that I know that have used both prefer the Xbox One over the PS4 at about 3/4th of the time. A total Sony fad admit that he liked the Xbox One better.

But from someone to spend time playing at GamesCom paying both, this is there statement. I think it's rather powerful:

TB tends to be rather brutally honest, so i would't be surprised if this turns out to be true. I trust his word a heck of a lot more than most gaming sites.

A lot of people hold and use the controllers differently and that can chance depending on the game. There is no way Sony or MS could test the controller for every variable. It's more than likely TB did in-fact have those problems, but it doesn't mean everyone will.

That's not a remotely powerful image, it just shows someone decided they preferred one over the other. The opposite likely happens just as often. Welcome to the world of consumer freedom! :P

Not even a fan of the xbox one but these arguments are getting fucking dumb.
We should change the design of pens too i suppose, because they could potentially stab you to death.

Both controllers are a marked improvement over the ones they replace, the ones gamers have used with minor complaint for years, any difference in performance/handling/comfort is entirely down to user preference.

Heres the thing, celebrities, movie, tv, music or internet, are no different from anyone else without the fame, so just because they say something doesnt mean it holds any more weight than anyone else.

All this video does is make me even less likely to watch any of his videos, because it paints him as either, 1) a retard, or 2) a fanboy - and you can crawl through my post history if you want - i am as far from an xbox fan as youre going to get.

Actually, it was after playing both that they changed their mind.  So much as they went and canceled their PS4 order and switch all of their credit to the Xbox One.  What could be a bigger  statement than that?

I predict more migration will happen once more people get to see and play both.  When you have a lousy movie - the production company promotes it heavily before it is out.  So you can make your money quickly because you know it will drown under the competition.
