I don't mean out of making games for handheld devices.  Maybe they can make games for iOS, Android, and Nintendo handhelds?

After the stomping that Nintendo DS did to the PSP and the whipping that the PSV is currently taking from the 2/3DS Nintendo is doing their dardnest to make sure Sony realizes who the handheld king is.  Also they want to make Sony eat crow for saying that they will take the handheld gaming out of the ghetto.

Now Sony has to worry about iOS and Android eating up Sony's marketshare on handheld gaming.  In addition, Nvidia Shield is now the most powerful dedicated gaming handheld system instead of the PSV.

But what steps does Nintendo need to take? What do they need to go right for them to make this happen?

If the Vita doesn't pick up, they may drop out. But if they do, they'll stop making games as well.

But why not make more money by porting over their games to iOS, Android, Nintendo or Nvidia systems so that more people can enjoy their games. They would be missing out on fantastic markets of untapped revenue.

Because they would just put all studios on PS4 development, where they will dominate anyway .

That said i hope Vita can turn around sales wise.  It already has alot of great games. 

They would miss out on a WHOLE GENERATION of future gamers that game more on the go than at home!!!  Plus they owe it to their stock holders to expand their IP to as many devices as possible.  Think of Jak/Ratchet/LBP on an iOS, Android, Nvidia Shield or even the 3DS that would be an instant profit!!!

You have to wonder after the Vita sales will Sony make another handheld console? This will be a big loss for us gamers (especially us JRPG fans!) but you just have to think what the Vita has done to an already weaken company as a whole.

That's why port their damn games on other system like 3DS, Shield, iOS and Android devices which is actually selling hardware.  Besides they need to make up the losses PS3 and PSP incurred during it's lifetime.  I heard that they still haven't recoup the intial investment loss on those systems.

No just no... Nintendo nor Sony should ever put their exclusives on another console because that is what sets the consoles apart and help  consumers decide which system is for them. So dont start the whole making their games for IOS/Android (where the quality would greatly decrease IMO) and stick to their own consoles.
