Forums - General Discussion - How do you feel about the fast food strike in the USA?

Here's the list of teachers, and principals making over $100k in Ontario.  It's massive.  They're very well paid.

Apparently 40% of Toronto Police make over $100k.

Then again, our minimum wage here is already $10.25.

I do think the US minimum wage is a little on the low side, but $15 is silly given the qualifications required for these jobs.

Well damn. I'm moving to Canada!  Do I have to own a moose or is that optional?  The average household (with two working people) in my town makes less than $30k!  The average male makes $20k!  Is the cost of living higher or something?  I know that bigger cities make more money but the cost of housing and gas is higher.

Do it!

It will suddenly make healthy food a lot more competitive with fast food....

Not all FF companies pay like shit.

In-N-Out as an example is great food, very small menu and consistently loaded with customers. Yet they pay well above min wage plus benefits and something someone without any higher education could definitely live off of.

Lastly, their food prices are not greatly different from others. A "meal" is maybe $2 more overall... but better quality and taste.

Its crap like McDonalds that creates fake food, sells it for $1 each and pays their employees min wage with no benefits all to maximize profits that are the issue.

Granted, its not like people couldn't find work somewhere else and In-N-Out workers are definitely a different level of professionalism and quality from that of the average person at McD's. (or other low-end FF)

MCD and most other fast food chains make more then enough profits to pay their workers more.  Starbucks pays their workers a decent wage and offers decent benefits and they are a lot less profitable then MCD.

They can go home and eat their own dicks or find a better job since fast food jobs are meant for people in school.

The whole fast food industry is based on incredible poor wages, the whole system as we know it would collapse if wages were doubled.
That's capitalism, everyone wants to be a lawyer or a doctor, most people end up on shit wages, get fat and have to see doctors and then hire lawyers to sue fast food companies. Or the doctor.

Ah, glory days.

A much profits as MCD is making every year its ridiculous how little they pay most of their workers (most make barely more then minimum wake).  Also I never seen a MCD that was understaffed so they could hire less workers without hurting their buttom line  or raise their prices and still pay them more.

I haven't noticed any strike...

The strike for a higher wage is warranted. The strike for over 10$ an hour to flip burgers and fry some French fries is completely wonky and crazy. Who do these fast food workers think they are?!

My feelings? I hope they become severly sick from their free meals

I'm pretty sure no fast food chains offer free lunches to their worker they do give great discounts on their food to their worker better discounts that other retailers offer to their employees.
