I've played a bit of KZ2 but never realised it had an awesome story. My bad.

It is not your fault. They focused on a lot of other stuff for the game and the story was not that detailed. Visari was the only interesting character and I wanted to see more of Templar and Radec. Though I must admit that a shooter isn't perhaps the best way to portray this background story. A movie franchise looks far more interesting. I would say that Neil Blomkamp (District 9 and Elysium) is the perfect guy to portray such a story where it's difficult to judge about good and bad

No way...
But I have to admit, Helghast design is beyond epic. Coolest looking characters ever.

This.... o wait.. I posted images from Red Specatcles and Jin Roh aka the Kerberos Saga (Manga/Anime)

Haha! I'm assuming this predated Killzone. The Helghan grunts (the ones that resemble this the most) look much more aesthetically pleasing than this though. Perhaps they ripped off earlier work, but they did improve on it. And like I said, the end-result is simply amazing.

That anime or whatever it was, is probably just an inspiration for the Helghast. Guerilla Games perfected the look.

It's amazing how a series with such an interesting story manages to be such uninteresting games. That is some kind of talent.

Totally agree.KZ games fall behind in the SP department (still not good as COD or Halo universe) because even with such a fantastic fictional universe behind it, the games tend to fail the story in a good way. KZ3 is a very good example for this.

Not as good as Cod?!!?!

Never got into the Killzone storyline beyond the games, never tried though.

The game with the most interesting backstory that was also greatly implemented in the games themselves was Resistance series (R:FOM, Retribution being the best in the story and atmosphere regard imo). Great amount of intel, stories of characters, overwhelmed nations, origins of the outbreak, all well fit into the alternate World.

The fact that Insomniac put an effective end to any direct sequel after Resistance 3 for a fucking 3 minutes post-game ending, for a universe with such amazing potential, makes me their lifetime hater. #fuckinsomniac

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

VERY interesting story line; who knew the Killzone universe was so vast

I didn't read through all of it, but I read enough to see that Sony have (or shall I say had) a Gargantuan sci fi franchise in the palm of their hand but instead opted to reduce it to a completely missable military game. So much potential wasted IMO.

I know. Sony pictures with the latest Elysium have expertise in Sci-Fi movies now so perhaps they should make a Killzone movie franchise. It can become a real hit if done properly.

Just don't call the movie Killzone, that has a really low audience appeal as a movie title.

Kinda looks like a slightly beefed up Darth Vader

Those Killzone characters still look better imo though

While I must admit I do not know a lot about Killzone I highly doubt it has a more interesting universe and backstory than Halo.

Comparable.

I'm playing Killzone Mercenary now, so I can't wait to tell you about the details that I've learned. Embargo is on the 4th.
