People underrating the vitas library, it does need more unique vita exclusives. KZ mercenary alone is amazing portable experience, there are a lot of great games, it just needs more recognizeable names like GTA, God of war and advertising. Many don;t even know what are available on vita.

Sure Pokemon is the king of not only handhelds but also on par with Mario/COD for King of all of gaming IMO. But what else does the 3DS have other than those 2? The Vita's Killzone and Tearaway will match the quality of Pokemon and Zelda then it will have Rayman, Ys, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Minecraft, and the what seems like hundreds of Indie games which whether you like it or not are actually good games. Looking at the 3DS's lineup besides Pokemon and Zelda theres Sonic and I guess Scribblenauts.

And before you say it, I know none of the Vita games combined will outsell Pokemon but that doesn't mean the Vita's games are bad by any means.

you said quality, not quantity lol, i wont say that. 3DS has both pokemon and zelda, japan has one piece and MH4, Mario Party should be big with that audience(im kinda their but not really). Last year we had Paper Mario for Nov/Dec. Now we have the wave of pokemon+LoZ!!!! Vita has GE2(japan). Does FF remake come out this year for all regions?

It beats the 3DS in both quality and quantity hell Killzone Mercenary has more quality than the entire 3DS lineup ;) and FF is supposed to release this year so hopefully theres a release date given at TGS.

to each their own i guess, all i know is as a competitive pokemon player XY has such great Quality filled with Quanity, just crazy!

It's clear that it's over in what sense?  Vita outselling the 3DS?...im sure no one sane believes that anymore.

Western 3rd parties abandonment?   What major, AAA, system selling games (not including movie tie-ins) is the 3DS getting that vita is not?  Angry Birds Star Wars, Rayman, Minecraft, Batman?

That its going to be discontinued?  Nope, the system will remain viable in Japan and will receive the support to survive there.

Sony is not gonig to support it for a 10 year cycle?  Maybe

Sony's first party studios are not developing for the console yet because they dont want to jeopardize their more prized home console system. Which makes sense. Really do not know how people can expect Sony to masterfully support two system, a handheld and new upcoming console with ease, when every manufacturer, nintendo, sega, atari have failed doing so.

In the sense that it's not going to get better.

Yes, because somehow, by Sony's miraculous power, the vita will be able to achieve negative sales with its price cut and a fall/winter lineup of games that is one, more quanity than last year, and second better quality than last years.

Guess it will be a sight to behold.

Sorry, BS, time will tell. I bet you won't be man enough to admit you were wrong when it does get better.

Speaking of manliness, why don't you respond to my other post?

You seem to agree that the Vita needs big exclusive games, but who is going to make them? As of right now, it all rests on hope and blind faith that the games will eventually come.

?? developers DUH. Sony IS using their first party (Tearway, KZ mercenary), and more will come, and AS the install base grows you will see more third party games on vita, its a marathon not a sprint, sony will support vita for 8-10 years. My bet is eventualyl Sony will help Rockstar make a GTA game for vita.

I agree with most that the vita's software line up isnt killer but its decent, so in the short term they should focus on marketing, first striking a deal with Ubi to market Rayman legends heavily for PSvita this september, alongside agressive marketing for killzone. Essentially every month they should market 2 new games, as promoting the idea of a healthy library is crutial. Unless you're nintendo your system doesnt succeed off one magical killer app. Again come this november they should have Arkham origins: blackgate exclusively marketed for the Vita alongside Tearaway. Minecraft vita doesnt have a release date but they should 110% prioritise it over the PS4 version, so it can release this november.

Looking further into the future they need to start encouraging japanese devs to bring their vita games over to the west. The system could easily become the go to place for the japandroids amongst us. Phantasy Star Online 2, Gundam breaker, God eater 2 could all fill Q1 2014.

At some point next year they simply need to remove the requirement for people to buy memory cards and just include 16GB internal memory in each system.

Finally, The gaikai streaming of PS3 games should first be prioritised for the Vita. A few months of exclusivity before it arrives for the PS4 (for which it isn't a key selling point) would be huge for the Vita. Here it should be accompanied by a second price drop and a new model featuring additional R2/L2 buttons behind the L1/R1 buttons. They should release a gamepad attachment for home use.

I own a vita too. Why do you have a vita if you don't consider indies as games ? Vita is THE indie console (Thanks Shahid for that one)

Plus Gravity Rush, Uncharted, P4:golden, D3 remake, Kz:mercenaries, Soul sacrifice, Virtue's last reward, Muramasa rebirth, and many others to come

What a game!!!! The 1st reason i got my vita. Ps plus+vita = totally worth it!

The gaikai idea you put here is a very good idea.

I don't get the blind hate vita seems to get, the hardware is amazing, easily the best handheld gaming device ever made, and the game library is a LOT better then people want to admit, it could be better sure but there are lots of good games now.

Sony NEEDS to improve the awareness and get the name vita more recognizeable. Advertise more, make some promotion deals, get a GTA , even if it means help funding the game.

I think the Vita has a decent library, which could be better if more of the Japanese games got localizations to the West. I often see people complain about the handheld not receiving AAA support, but many AAA developers are geared towards home consoles, where many of those types of titles do not seem to be as appealing as a handheld title.

I think inventive titles like Tearaway, a solid push for Japanese-developed gaming (where many developers aren't really utilizing AAA budgets) for western gamers who enjoy Japanese games like traditional turn-based or tactical RPGs, and great support for independent titles could help Sony carve out a niche in the handheld market this generation.

If Sony managed to get Square-Enix to release an enhanced port of Final Fantasy VI on the Vita, instead of the IOS and android like they've done with IV or V, I would put down money for the Vita in a heartbeat.

The biggest problem with the Vita library for me is most games are available on systems I already own. The only reason I would want a Vita right now is Tearaway and Uncharted Golden Abyss
