For all the HD sharpness, complex shaders, and high-res textures of modern games, I still find that a great many older games are still visually appealing.

6th gen games like Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Odin's Sphere, God of War 1 & 2, and Conker Live and Reloaded still look fantastic to me with thanks to their attention to detail and aesthetic flair.

Hell, even Yoshi's Island way back on the SNES is still beautiful in my book. It might not be in 1080p or push hundreds of millions of polygons a second, but that crayon-and-pencil style hasn't aged a bit.

Do you also find some games from previous generations hold up visually today?

Kingdom Hearts 2 still looks amazing.  The first one has aged okay, not nearly as good as the 2nd.

Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 still looks pretty awesome.

Edit - Just found this video of GT4. This guy is amazing lol

Sure, especially side-scrollers. Early 3D games on PS1, Saturn and N64 look awful imo, much worse than SNES games.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Wind Waker and Yoshis Island win that one.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

God of War 2, Black (in 480p I would argue it was on par or better in some regards than Resistance Fall of Men), Metal Gear Solid 3 arguably.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, DKC 2 and 3, Wind Waker, TLOZ:LttP. Hell, even Kirby's DreamLand is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played and it was on the NES. Need I go on?

Very few 3rd-gen and 5th-gen games hold up well visually, but lots of SNES, Genesis, PS2, Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox games still look pretty good. It depends on the style they went for.

Paper Mario holds up wonderfully well.

Wind Waker is still beautiful.

I do. There was a time after the xbox one's reveal till about e3 where I barely played any games! I just got too caught up in the coming gen. I regret it now though and have been playing a decent amount lately. But yeah... They still look good!
