The worst SKU edition any system has seen ever? I think so

stop being mad cuz you dont want it, not everybody has a good budget. Its optional, your not force to play 3DS games on it.

Dude, at least admit its a horribly cheap SKU. The 2DS is a lot worse than both 3DS versions, but at least its really cheap. Your logic is like saying the white Wii U was a great SKU because it was cheaper.  The market showed that isn't how things work.

I really like design and dont enjoy 3D so just because u dont like it doesnt make it a horrible sku

It has a single speaker that's not even in the center, it is way larger than the other skus yet doesn't have a larger screen, not pocket-able, harder to reach touch screen, and a worse battery life. It's a horrible sku, but at least it doesn't cost a lot.

3DS XL, Vita and Tablets arent very pocketable either and nobody seems to complain about them. Surveys have shown adults who play handheld gaming play at home the vast majority of the time and kids dont need to put it in there pockets, they play it while on car rides or walking thru stores with parents or at home or friends house. The battery life is essentualy the same. And its not larger, it just doesnt fold. I have pretty big hands and cant comfortably reach the touch screen on 3DS or XL without holding it in one hand and using the other exclusively for the touch screen, so nothing really changed. That just leaves the speaker as ur argument why its horrible.

Think of it this way. Nintendo themselves thinks it's a bad sku. If they thought it was on par to the other ones, they would not be selling it for $40/$70 less.

??  So taking the 3D capability had nothing to do with change in cost??  I find your logic baffling.

Do you not understand Nintendo likes money? Just because a product is cheaper to make, that doesn't mean the product is sold for cheaper. If Nintendo thought enough people would pay $150 for the 2DS, they would charge $150 for the 2DS.

Of course there are many other things that influence the price, but perceived value is the major one.

@Tbone

Good sales would not prove the 2DS isn't a bad model, just a really cheap model that people settled for. It's like people buying the iPhone 4 even though the 5 is already out. They would have preferred the 5, BUT the 4 was cheaper so they went with it.

the thing is US doesn't buy enough 3DS's (even though its doing good) $130 is an attractive price point especially during Christmas, As Parents see it and notice the price they can buy 2 of them for their kds + pokemon which = $340+Tax then a regular 3DS which they need to worry about for safety hazards(3D) or breaking it (clamshell design) and pay $420+ Tax!!! Nintendo is doing this for low budgets that want pokemon, or somebody with just 2 or 3 games... Also most importantly Kids!!!

its different with video games, 2DS=3DS without 3D. Its a damn smart move, not everybody wants to play in 3D and spend $210-$240 for a 3ds + a game. With $130($170 with a game) people can be very happy with a purchase, also during holiday instead of buying an ipad/etc they can buy a $99-$119 2DS during holiday and save a ton of money

Thats the worst argument ive ever heard in my life. If this didnt release then people would be expecting a price cut on 3DS in the near future. By releasing a $129 sku, that eliminates the need to cut the price of the more expensive skus thus keeping high profit margins.

I guess Sony thinks the 12gb PS3 is a horrible sku or else it would cost $269 or Microsoft thinks the 4gb 360 sku is horrible or else it would cost $299.

Lol this is targeted for kids according to Nintendo right? Well they have much smaller hands, I don't know how they expect them to reach the touch screen without them having to place that thing on the floor or something.

easy use one hand to hold the 2DS and the other to touch the screen. Its not that complicated. People do it all the time with handhelds :p

You know its bad when people have to forgo common sense in orde to hate on something. Yes its completely impossible to hold it with one hand while using the touch screen with the other...Cause every touch screen game is made for people with 3 hands.

If you really think its fine and we are just looking to hate, why did Nintendo move start and select?

Because those are buttons you might want to access while using regular face buttons....unlike the touchscreen.

But games are designed thinking it is simple to just move a thumb and tap a virtual button. That's now going to require the whole hand to be removed. That's annoying and a design flaw.

What game requires constant interaction with the touchscreen AND face buttons? Virtually every 3DS game I've ever played either primarily uses one or the other. Even on a regular 3DS, accessing the touchscreen in a game using traditional buttons is, at best, uncomfortable and awkward anyway, and requires me to completely abandon the face buttons. And this is coming from someone who has big hands. You don't have to remove your hand. You just slide it down.

That argument makes no sense. This system is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to be cheaper. Nintendo doesn't think its a bad SKU because of the lower price point. The lower price point is the whole damn point.

So... the 4 GB XBox 360, the 12GB/250GB PS3, and the Wifi Only Vita are bad skews?  16 GB iPads are bad skus according to apple?  16GB iPhone too?  The PSP 3000 was a bad SKU once the PSP Go came out?  The DS Lite was a bad SKU?  DSi?  If Dell makes one computer for $1000 and another for $400 are they saying the $400 is a bad computer?  When car companies sell different packages for cars, are they saying the less expensive ones are bad? When Burger King sells the Whopper, are they saying that the Whopper JR is a bad burger?

There are different people in the market, and they have different needs.  For a 5 year old who won't use the 3D feature, it doesn't make sense to pay for it.  Some people aren't going to need 500 GB on their PS3, but that doesn't mean the cheaper 250 GB model is a bad SKU.

Please retract your terrible terrible statement if you expect to have any credibility in this argument.  Otherwise, haters gonna hate.
