That's sad. It was never my type of game, but I was hoping Wii U gamers would buy this in droves since it is a new IP and they've been deprived of games.

No whats sad is you acting like its already out in all regions and nobody bought it.

a sourceless rumour saying only 30k copies were shipped to japan doesn't qualify as true.

europe coment is an exaggeration.

the game is wii u only, being released first on europe and japan won't affect US sales. GTA5 release date is unrelated.

Do you think it will sell more than 30k first week?

Im thinking 100-120k LTD in Japan

I certainly don't believe the shipments were only 30k, it makes no sense and there's no source.

Target audiences are indeed different, but as bananaking says, many Wii U owners, (and prospective Wii U owners) have a PS3 or 360, and GTA5 has very popular appeal.

It's like Iwata has says when talking about competition, that everything that potentially takes time/money away from their products is competition.

Millions of gamers will be getting GTA5, it's safe to say many of NA's million or so Wii U owners fall into this group.

just remember that GTA5 sales will be in the range of 10% the ps360 installed base. it's not like the gaming world stops to buy GTA5, the 90% who don't want it will just buy other games.

it doesn't matter when a game launches, if its a god game it will sell. May not be big to start with but a good game has legs.

it does. ill list Killzone 3 and bulletstrom for example. they launched on the same day, bulletstrom on the 360 sold okay, but on the PS3? it flopped hard, really hard, just a few dozen thousand. Killzone3 just destroyed it. now imagine a game going up against GTA5. trust me, it matters

The target audience for both Wonderful 101 & Grand Theft Auto V are just a taaaad different. It's not like GTA is on the Wii U either, so people looking to pick up a game on their Wii U won't be considering GTA as a potential purchase. I'm not suggesting W101 is going to be a massive hit, but the demographics are different enough to make their close launches seem less significant. Personally, I won't be picking up GTA and will be getting W101 instead.

im not saying the target audience for W101 and GTA are the same. but when GTA releases all the media attention and hype will be drawn towards it and over shadowing the W101.everybody will be talking about GTA, the press, the websites the gamers, pretty much everybody. and for those looking to buy a new cosnole and then find out that GTA5 is not on the WiiU wont help either. people who might have considered buying a WiiU might put that idea on hold because they will be too busy with GTA5.  one of the games goals is to push hardware sales, and nintendo certainly needs it too specially at this stage of the consoles life, but putting it 2 days away from GTA5 pretty much kills that. also rayman, a game that has a very different target audience like W101 changed its release date, because GTA will just dominate the sales in that period

Damange control much? The OP made a prediction, and operating on that assumption I made a statement providing if it materializes. Chill the fuck out ....

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Nintendo publish games to sell on the course of years not months. I somehow remember Goldeneye to flop hard the first month, just to end up selling 8 millions copies without even care not being the highest selling platform at that time (N64). It will probably sell much better on holidays. Take a look at Pikmin2 charting on Japan, for the solely reason of Pikmin 3 release. And that happened almost one month after Pikmin3 release.

what you said would be true if GTA5 was releasing on wii u in september 15, but it isn't.

what you said would be true if everybody who owns a WiiU or planning on buying them does not own either a PS3 or 360.

you speak as if everyone who has a ps360 will magically buy GTA5. there are people with different tastes, some will prefer W101 over GTA5 and vice versa. the games are too different and on different platforms, they won't affect each other.

well over 20 million of those people will. i know the games have different appeal but GTA is infact pop culture, it has mass appeal. the number of people who will prefer W101 over GTA are very very little, the number of people who will chose GTA are in the millions. there is no way around it, what ever company you love what ever game you prefer, the game releasing 2 days apart from GTA5 is infact stupid and will hurt sales tremendously.

My point is, most gamers have a limited budget. When two games come out close together, most will choose one of them.

I would love nothing more than for W101 to be a smash hit. Hell, I'd love to see it outsell GTA5, as I personally think GTA is garbage. But that's kinda like wanting to see Bayonetta 2 outsell COD, it's just not gonna happen.

101 copies LT confirmed.

Wow, then it would be a rare Collectors Item?  And anyone who buys it now, will be able to see it for 101 million dollars in a few years?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I still cannot believe they're releasing W101 two days before GTA5, what the hell are they thinking? Why not release it simultaneously with Europe, as the English version is clearly finished?
