Forums - Sony Discussion - DualShock 4 is about to revolutionize the gaming industry

Seems too tiny to be of any practical use. Now the Wii U pad or Vita as a controller has potential but not a tiny touch screen you can barely do anything on.
I do hope it works out for them but looking at the pics it looks like people will have the same complaints about it as they do the Wii U. I don't know how many times on sites I see someone complain about having to move their hands away from the controls to touch the screen totally kills the immersion for them

Wii U gamepad has a touchscreen "that's such a gimmick, it will do nothing for gaming"
DS4 has a touchpad "wow, this going to revolutionize gaming as we know it"

It's because the wii u has a screen on it. All games I know of on wii u want the user to be looking at the gamepad when doing touch. It's used for taping exact locations usually.

With ps4 it is for swipes and very simple things making it more like a button and less like a touch screen. I really wonder if wii u games will eventually follow in the ps4's foot steps and use the touch screen as a touch pad.

The DS4 is the one that's following the footsteps of the WiiU. At the top of my head, I know that W101 and Batman AC used it for swipes and things like that without having to look down, and that's just at the top of my head, there are other games that use it like this

I do like the concept of the DS4 touchpad: You can continue to watch the main screen while using it.

It reminds me the blobish 'joypad' they use in the movie eXistenz.

Touchpad is actually a negative for me. I really hated the early PS3 games that forced the gimmicky sixxaxis controls on you. Some games wouldn't even let you turn it off, it was just forced on you. This sounds like it may happen again with the touchpad. I tried the touchpad on the vita at a gamestop store and every implementation of it in games has been mediocre or terrible.

Stopped reading after the first paragraph. The hook they tried to fool me with was terrible. 'Please let me explain'...
Also, very very dodgy website for an article like that.

It certainly won't revolutionize gaming. It's a gamepad, it has a touch screen, come on...

Don't know anything about batman, but W101 is still doing full complex motions, not just swipe up, swipe left.

The touchpad in Killzone for example acts as just four buttons depending on the direction you swipe. Basically another D-Pad.

In Infamous the super jump attack thing is just swiping up with both fingers at the same time. That's the type of stuff I'm talking about. Just using it like a boring button.

Whoever says the Gamepad's touch screen is a gimmick is very short sighted.

Sounds very much like another paid hype article.Similar to the "wanna desperately create another Halo Hype with Titanfall-buy -the-xb1" article from ign.

This one is also another "opinion+wishfull thinking" article.

Only company that has revolutionised controllers and gaming was nintendo with wii mote(and eyetoy a little bit)
This controller maybe great but has to prove to be as good/better than the xbox1 controller and has not the potential the wii u tablett or the ps4/vita combination.
I 'd really like to see a controller with force feedback(maybe next next gen)
