Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Kart 8: 60 FPS gameplay, looks awesome

The video being shot at 60 fps creates a misleading effect (look at the people in the background of the kiosk), the game is smooth, but it's not that smooth. And yes, I played this same track at E3.

Filming a 60fps screen with a 60fps camera doesn't make the screen look any smoother than it is. 60fps is 60fps.

who would of thought a mario kart game would be able to prove that the Wii U is capable of next gen graphics

Why? The Mario Kart series has always been known for displaying hardware power. Each entry, outside of the Wii game, and perhaps the 3DS one simply because it looked similar to that, have looked very impressive, graphically, for their time. Mario Kart 64 was amazing when it first came out, and I still love the 2D prerendered characters.....that game STILL handles the best out of all the 3D Mario Kart games, because of the sprite characters on 3D tracks.

The only entry which expressly wasn't graphically impressive for it's time, was MKWii, where they kind of just phoned it in. It barely looked better than the GC game. A Wii MK could have looked far better than that, even for non-HD hardware.

As a personal aside, I really hope the final character roster, including unlockable characters, includes Shy Guy, possibly a Magickoopa/Kamek, a Goomba would be nice, King Boo, Wart and/or Mouser would be fantastic but probably won't happen, Professor E. Gadd would be a great racer, and it would be cool to be able to race as R.O.B. again, ala the DS game.

Blargh! I thought it'd be new gameplay, but instead it's the same demo from E3, being played by a guy who should get his driver's license suspended!

I would say it looks good but his driving skills were so terrible that I had to stop watching.

No sense in playing it with that wii u controller.

Except you'll be at a disadvantage if you don't. Plus it has the almighty Horn of Annoyance! :3

this is by far the worst player ive seen in my life
he plays like a 4 year old infant

Lol. I "love" how the AI slows down at the end so that the noob can win. This is Mario Kart. Shallow gameplay as ever.

Demo purpose. They don't want to create a barrier with the player.

That's why MKWii at mirror and the highest difficult is the better way to play a race but they won't make a demo with those features.

I've played this track twice at E3, it doesn't look like that. The frame rate looks like the official trailer Nintendo released:

Filming at 60 fps does create an unnatural effect, it's evident when you look at the people moving in the background of the shot.

Can you use the Controller Pad as a steering wheel, similar to the Wiimotes?
