Why do you hate indie games?

Too few graphics. 19 18.10%

Because Sony has them. 22 20.95%

I have no soul. 5 4.76%

I am Bobby Kotick. 11 10.48%

I don't hate your mom. 48 45.71%

Total:105

My main problem is that so many indies get such huge opinions of themselves and think they are the only source of creativity. There are a small number of games that are generally good, but most aren't. I just think that they are given far too much importance.

But yeah, they are sometimes good, just don't fill their ego. GTA V is going to be the best game this year and no indie game is going to get remotely close to the scale of that game even if they have quirky little ideas that last for an hour

Where are my options man!

I'm a Communist, so I hate anything "indie"

Because they are mostly pretentious, gimmicky, and shallow, and generally inferior to proper games.

I love them.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

My only complaint is that there's a lot of crap out there. More so than shovelware.

I wish Microsoft, for example, would have elevated XBLIGs that proved successful. That way those developers had an opportunity to improve their games with added features of a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game.

Not to mention there were clearly games that had no business being games or available. An app to make your Xbox 360 controller double as a vibrator. Stupid. I know a guy, who thought it was cool that his mom was a gamer. Until one night he came home and found her with his controller stuff up inside her while she was getting off as some guy she knew was controlling the vibrations via Xbox LIVE.

It was a fricken Crying Game moment.

You're probably the ONLY one that got that reference.  No, I meant that he cried while showering.

Hate them? No.

However, the majority of indie games I've played have been some kind of 2D platformer. They've usually been bite sized affairs that last a handful of hours to fully complete, and then they're done with, leaving little to no replay value. That's simply far less appealing when you have full helpings in the same genre releasing at retail with dozens of hours of content per release.

They're a nice distraction every now and then when I don't have anything else to play, and I don't see them ever growing to be anything more than that.

Although, there is also concern that the idea of "anybody can release whatever they want, whenever they want, wherever they want" has been done before, and it didn't exactly have a positive impact on the industry.

VGChartz

Because most of them are garbage

What I don't like about indie games is reviewer scaling the review to the budget of the devs.

They say "Oh, fez is incredible, 19/20 for the duration" -> F*** that, it was 5 hours long, and I found that boring as hell (Just my opinion)

Then they review, let's say Mugen souls and say "Well, there is a lot of content no one cares about, and the story is only 40 hours long, 13/20" -> And there is ~400 hours for the platinum.

That's why I don't like indies. They are praised because they are indies, and not reviewed as harsh as AAA titles.

I mean, even RE6, if made by indies, would have been said GOTY.

(And of course there are indie games that I love, from Touhou to the future Rival Threads (Where's the HYPE ?) )
