PS4 will beat all records without a game from Sony Santa Monica, Naughty Dog or Polyphony Studios announced for PS4 yet.

This have to be scary for the competition....

You don't need system sellers to sell new hardware when it comes out! You just need a good price and for the generation to have gone on for 7+ years

Indeed, and that's one of the key differences i always mention when people compare the PS4 to the Wii-U. In the end for most of the Wii buyers that devicessimply didn't have a lot of lasting value, and that always reflects to the next generation.

Good to hear.

But there isn't. Especially with it launching in moderately large markets, whatever they're allocated will be sold that day. They'll get constant shipments, but as soon as it hits store shelves, the product will be gone. Again, this is true for every major video game console launch.

Do you have hard facts that say 100% sell-through of major consoles has happened before? i'm not saying it isn't possible, I'm saying it's not likely. There could be a number of reasons why, every console doesn't get picked up (cancelled pre-orders at the last minute, preorders not getting picked up, store clerks hoarding some for their friends until said friends get the money to pick up the console, etc.).

Even if there's a console held to side (which shouldn't happen and is against every retailer policy), the lack of product on shelves will be considered a sellout. There will thousands that will be lining up for a PS4 that will go home without one. They have far too many preorders than consoles they will be able to make.

On November 16th, you won't be able to go into any Target, Best Buy, Gamestop, Walmart, etc. and buy a PS4. They will all be gone and being held for a preorder.

Again, this isn't an exclusive event. The PS3 was sold out everywhere until the later parts of January 2007. The 360 was sold out until mid March 2006. The Wii was sold out for over 2 years!
