Forums - Sony Discussion - Vita's independent role -

Tagged games:

As many of you know the Gamescom stream for Sony was streamed yesterday and I have come to a conclusion for what Vita's fate and future should be. Which might as well be something real.

Where do we begin? Well let's take a look at the magnificent Bordelands 2 port. It released last year on three different systems and this year the fourth. It also sold millions on them, probably even more than what the current Vita install base is. Well then, let us cross that one.

Now we have a bunch of indie games. Yeah, let's cross the off.

Hold It! Minecraft is coming to the Vita, oh wait, it's already on other mobile platforms, two other systems and three other systems very close to the future. Yeah, that will help.

Now let's see what the creators of this majestic hardware (which everyone on this forum says it is) has to offer.

Killzone, which will be obviously overshadowed by his big brother and Tearaway which probably has the brightest future of all these games. That's not saying much though.

And for last, my favorite one is the price cut. Coming directly from the event, it'll sure help the system when it has no mention of it besides the stream and to top it off, it will release with literally no software at all. How much it'll help? It'll will probably boost the system to the sales of what it had last week  in the US, then go back again.

What I can conclude with this is that Vita has no game to play as in it's out of the competition in the west. Sony has just shown us how much they care for it in the West and using it as a Wii U controller for the PS4 just shows how it will be supported from them. But you now what? It still baffles me how it's getting the support it's getting in Japan. Sony isn't doing anything with it there either.

In the end Vita will be a failure as a system and a controller. If it weren't for the PSP Go this would be one of the biggest failures I know of and admitelly deserving that fate.

The mind boggles...

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Even worse than the virtual boy?

It's one of the biggest, Virtual Boy is on another level.

The only conclusion I can give is that since Sony is actually taking a look at the system now (even if its 10 feet away) and 3rd parties, especially Japanese ones, will continue to make games for it, and the system will not stop production, saying its a failure is the only way to make the vita haters feel good about themselves.   The Vita as a dead system has a lot going for it and will get more support than the Wii U.

I know, man. You definitely can't play indie games. I mean, they're all... indie. They don't even get cross promotions with Doritos and Mountain Dew. What's up with that? That ain't gaming!
