Forums - General Discussion - God doesn't prevent terrible things because?

Please choose wisely....

A. He can't 24 6.96%

B. He doesn't want to 86 24.93%

C. He causes them 22 6.38%

D. He doesn't exist. 213 61.74%

Total:345

to put it simply, its because we are living in a world controlled by Satan. Satan challenged God by telling we do as humans do not need God to rule over us. God if giving Satan a chance to prove himself which is where we are today. The reason the world is in the shape it's in today is because of this. God will not prevent things from happening because in a sense he would be helping Satan. Satan's biggest goal is to deceive you, by making you think God is either the cause of bad things or he just doesn't care and will not stop things from happening

God doesn't prevent terrible things because he doesn't interfere directly with human activities.

.. because he clearly is a casual.

B or D. I still conflicted on the idea of a omnipotent being who created all of this because it raises the question, "Well, who created him? Obviously, he couldn't be created from nothing."

I'm thinking if he does exist, he doesn't interact with earth or any other planet. He created space as an ever-evolving place and he doesn't need to interfere.

A soul without any religious belief still has belief. That belief is in that there is nothing supernatural. All men have belief but a man who follows it not, is weak.

Fixed. (Well, to some degree.)

And your last sentence makes no sense. Strictly following your beliefs can most certainly make you weak.

So if that is true. does that mean praying is useless. because God won't interfere. (scratches head)

God lets people die to win a bet with Satan.  Now that's what I call a gambler!

Praying is just meant to get you through things. God will listen but he won't intervene. So in a sense praying is useless. (This is my opinion)

Except omniscience implies foreknowledge...thus negating your entire argument.

If God does not know which possibility Cain will make, there is something he does not know. Hence, he is not omniscient.

But this goes goes back to SHADE's orginal answer to the idea that God was testing Cain. God knows Cain killed Abel, he knows the future of what Cain will do however God cannot affect Cain's free will of choice, to say that he did kill him or that he didn't.

All these things point to the same arguement  that Free Will and omniscience contridict each other. You cannot have one with the other. I see it as the past has happened so God knows. The future hasn't happened but God knows all outcomes. The futures are determined by man's free will but it doesn't matter which free will choice man makes as God knows them all.

Hmm, pie.
