3rd parties would probably find another excuse not to develop for it, that's what a lot of them have done since the N64 era.

Completely different.  The N64 was much more expensive to develop for simply because of the expensive cartridges Nintendo went with, and that was an era where most third parties could make decent money by sticking with just one platform and selling 100k or so copies of their games.  And this was true up until this past generation where if you don't sell close to a million or so copies of your game minimum it's considered a flop and your development team or studio gets dissolved.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I do find it a little funny that 4-player Mario platformer couldn't sell the Wii U last year, but this year, apparently with no price cut, another 4-player Mario platformer is somehow going to cause Wii U sales to skyrocket.

The system needs a lot more variety (and thats including the games it has coming out this holiday) than just a bunch of platformers. Mario Kart 8 this holiday would've been much more ideal over Mario 3D World as the biggest title.

At $350 IMO this is a speciality item for hardcore Nintendo fanatics only.

Budget shoppers/parents/kids (groups that Nintendo usually has a chance with) will opt for the cheaper PS3/360 that have a far better library and a full roster of budget priced games.

That or the 3DS IMO which has more Nintendo franchises on it and costs far less.

Hardcore players aren't going to bite on the Wii U, they will ride out their PS3/360 until the PS4/XB1 become more affordable or appealling to those who aren't early adopters.

I'm just not seeing where the target audience for a $350 Nintendo console is. It definitely isn't the yuppie/casual crowd, they have the money to spend, but aren't going to spend it on "asymetric gaming". Their dollars are going to a new smartphone or tablet.

So you agree the PS4 and Xbox One will flop then.

Different situations and audiences.

Nintendo IMO was banking on at least a good portion of the casual folkes who went crazy for the Wii in 2006/2007 to show up to their party.

MS/Sony basically look to be targetting hardcore players who are tired of their PS3/360, and I'm guessing there's enough of those folkes who are around to sell out their initial shipments at least.

Nintendo is basically get screwed by all their core demographics that I think they were counting on, even Nintendo fans, I find a lot of Nintendo fans are unwilling to consider buying the system until its cheaper because they've been raised on lower cost consoles.

Right now Nintendo can't win with any audience. They basically made a system that doesn't repeat the excitement of the Wii for casuals (which was probably a foolish bet to try again anyway), doesn't appeal to hardcore players who have a PS3/360 already, and can't win with the parents/kids crowd either because it's considerably more expensive than a cheap PS3/360 and a $20 Lego Batman game (guess which option mom/dad is going to favor).

they will get less and less i think. most publishers wont bother downgrading their games (visually, physics) and trying to port the game to the WiiU. the PS4/X1/PC market seems like it will be the place to go to for third parties this gen.

Yes because the PS2 was more powerful than the Xbox

they were on the same league. shall we compare specs of the WiiU and PS4? or have we done that already a billion times before?

Its kind of too late specs-wise for the "Next gen titles" but if Nintendo sells well enough they will get exclusive content. Too late for them ever getting next gen multiplats. People wont be holding themselves back for Nintendo unless the game is exclusive.

No but its games didn't look like they were a generation behind the Xbox or GC either, and it didn't have to rely on a handful of old franchises in order to sell.

X doesn't look like a generation behind either.

Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Metal Gear, Medal of Honor, Crash Bandicoot, Madden, Need For Speed. if u look at the top 20 best selling PS2 games, it only had 2 new ips, Kingdom Hearts and Guitar Hero.

They weren't on the same league dude. PS2 games looked flat out emberassing against GC/Xbox games

Isn't ubisoft developing the WiiU version of Watch Dogs alongside the PS4/XboxOne versions? We'll see how that holds up.

Watchdogs is on the PS3 and 360....its not next gen. Wait...so...do you mean to tell me you think Assassins Creed 4 is next gen since its on the PS4 and Xbox One?
