People still care about Minecraft?

11,432 people bought the game in the last 24 hours on PC alone.

It sold 260,000 units in July, at retail, in USA alone.

It topped the UK charts for a few weeks, retail.

It has sold over 8 Million units on Xbox 360, over 11 Million units on PC and has been downloaded and the Pocket Edition has been downloaded over 10 Million times.

Millions of people still care about Minecraft.

There is no butthurt. Nintendo's victimhood is well-established by process of elimination on the irrational moves of third parties large and small across the board.

Notch has never, ever said anything ill of Nintendo.

Sometimes, it might just be Nintendo's fault that games arent appearing on Nintendo consoles.

I wonder if people truly believe the stuff they type while realizing that MS and Sony have put together entire teams whose sole job is to get indie developers interested in their platforms.

You're acting like Nintendo hasn't done anything

Nothing, no.  But probably not as much.  nintendo is pretty infamous for not being good to third parties.

Basically Nintendo fans and non-Nintendo fans both see the same result of _____ game not coming to Nintendo platforms.  Nintendo fans assume that Nintendo is doing everything they can to get it on the platform and the guys making the decision are just biased against them.  non-Nintendo fans think that Nintendo probably isn't doing as much as the other two to reach out and obtain games like this.  Unfortunately since all we have to look at are the results it's tough to say who's right, but I'm much more inclined to believe the one that sounds the least like a conspiracy theory.

Nintendo actually has an indie department that has earned a lot of praise from indie devs.

No, you misunderstand. Every time a Nintendo console doesn't get a game (or gets an inferior version) it is the fault of the developer / publisher / everyone apart from Nintendo. And the only way to fix this is to focus the blame on them and make sure none ever touches Nintendo.

Heaven forbid there be any kind of grey area.

My post largely lines up with what Tor said, but there plenty of documented cases where developers say they have no plans for a version of their game on Nintendo platforms simpy because Nintendo has never spoken to them ever.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I never thought you to be a tin-foil Nintendo fan, Mr. Khan.

It's not a matter of tin-foil, a reducto ad absurdum argument that's a convenient way of getting to avoid the long discourse on the peculiarities of third party relations with Nintendo.

Nintendo does a lot of stuff wrong. How they treat third parties is not one of them, lest they have become so spoiled indeed that they expect free money from the console manufacturers just for existing (in which case, if not moneyhatting is what's wrong, i'd rather Nintendo not be right).

And yes, Nintendo has made great strides towards courting indie developers, and has done so from the beginning. Many of the blowhards in the indie group (though i'm willing to admit i know nothing about Notch or Mojang) are ascendent core gamers who would love nothing more than to shit on Nintendo (Phil Fish)

The concept isn't hard. The second screen, whether its the gamepad or the 2nd screen on the 3DS, would require NEW CODE. Meaning it would take more time to develop and test etc. The PS3/PS4/PSVita version are pretty much going to be straight ports of the code that has already been written.

As a programming I know how this stuff works. The Wii U/3DS version are going to take longer and Nintendo probably doesn't even give a shit about Minecraft so of course those versions are going to come later rather than sooner.

Do I need to explain more?

I'm afraid so. I'd be surprised if you could simply directly port the code from a PC or 360 game to no fewer than three individual platforms, for example. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, of course, but that doesn't sound right to me at all. Conversely, using the second screen for something functional (map, inventory, etc.) would likely take a bit of effort, but slapping a logo on the bottom screen sounds simple enough, no?

noname, remember Malstrom?...yeah, that guy..here´s what he says about the situation:

"The real story is how Minecraft is absent from the 3DS and Wii U. Minecraft is a huge hit with younger kids. I’d rank Minecraft up there with Mario Mania of the late 1980s. I wouldn’t be surprised if a Minecraft movie is in the works. Remember how much damage Sonic the Hedgehog did during the 16-bit generation? Minecraft surpasses that.

Does Nintendo want to get out of the hardware business? If you lived on Mars and witnessed all of Nintendo’s decisions including not obtaining Minecraft while Sony and Microsoft did (and not even the crappy IOS version), you’d think Nintendo has a death wish. If Notch was Japanese, I guarantee Nintendo would have snatched Minecraft up. I’ve noticed Nintendo doesn’t give a damn about any game series that isn’t Japanese (except, perhaps, Call of Duty which doesn’t compete with Nintendo’s games)."

What´s your opinion?...especially about the bolded part..

It's not an issue of it being Japanese and more of the massive bridge between those who work on PC (even if they may not bear Nintendo any malice, PC-devs usually just consider them a non-factor) and Nintendo. Not since the days of Doom and Duke Nukem 3D getting ports to Nintendo systems has Nintendo cared much about what was going on in the PC community, and likewise a divergence on the PC side.

Just to add to this.

On the 9th of August, the game had sold 11,676,053 units on PC. zarx quoted the page on that day, after the news of the 360 Edition breaking 8 Million.

Today, on the 21st of August, the game has sold 11,837,874 units on PC.

In 12 days, Minecraft on PC alone has shifted over 160,000 units.

Game is gigantic. The modern day LEGO.
