★Pokkén Fighters Might Be That Mysterious Pokémon Game With Lucario★

A new Pokémon title was teased during Pokémon Game Show with a brief image of Lucario and Blaziken about to face off. The title was not formally announced, but Siliconera believes it may be called Pokkén Fighters or Pokkén Tournament.

 

Siliconera uncovered trademarks for Pokkén Fighters and Pokkén Tournament filed by The Pokémon Company in the US. Two bipedal Pokémon about to fight? Sounds kind of like a Pokémon fighting game to me and it and there are enough fighting type Pokémon for this game to exist. And that flag in the top right hand corner looks like the logo for fighting Pokémon from the Pokémon Trading Card game. Hmmm…

 

Siliconera contacted The Pokémon Company and are awaiting a response.

I would eat that up. Hopefully it will include non fighting type though, but if it doesn't no points lost.

if its true, i doubt only fighting types, they'lladd pikachu/Charizard 100%

I don't get the name D: I know Nintendo trademarked that just before the Pokemon Show and therefore the name is plausible, but, why Pokken? Why not Pokemon? I really hope they don't call it Pokken in the Netherlands, pokken is smallpox in Dutch..

Seems like it could be related to the Tekken franchise .... Pokemon x Tekken = Pokken. They also registered Pokken Tournament, perhas a nod to Tekken Tag Tournament.

Nintendo and Namco seem close these days with Namco working on Smash Bros U/3DS.

Guy's this is definitely outsoure work. Namco Bandai is the developer.

It could be that Nintendo is collaborating with Namco-Bandai on this one, as with Smash Bros, and that "Pokken" is a mash-up of Pokémon and Tekken. It's Pokémon, Tekken-style.

If that's true though, I gotta wonder whats up with Nintendo and Namco Bandai, lol. Most of Namco must be busy working on Nintendo software, lol.

I think a Soul Calibur with more Zelda characters would be cool too. I'm surprised they've never revisited that idea.

If its based on the Tekken engine, I imagine it'll be fairly different from Smash Bros. I don't think Nintendo wants the overlap anyway.
