"A joke isn't as funny the second time around, and maybe especially not if you shout it."

"What seemed edgy and brash in the original film is now routine and old-hat."

"A disappointing and largely pointless sequel that fails to capture the tone of the original and ends up feeling unpleasant on a number of different levels."

for those who have seen it(i think it came out yesterday) was it really this bad?

Oh I hope it is not this bad. The original did have Nic Cage in it though. Jim Carrey has not been able to make a movie interesting in years. It is like he somehow lost his touch all at the same time.

I'm sure it's not that bad, I don't recall critics loving the first one either. I'm gonna see it and I'm sure I'll love it. I'll let you know lol

I guess you could say they're kicking its ass.

Well, the first got 66/100 on Metacritic, the second is currently at 46/100, then again I don't really go from critics and stuff, some of my favourite films and games have had low scores...

Tell me how it is when you see it, lol :P No spoilers though! D:

The first one wasn't particularly good. Dragged on during many parts, but was saved by super-stylish action scenes (Hit Girl was pure awesome) and a much stronger second half of the movie. Doesn't really lend itself to a sequel, because the fundament is anything but kick ass. What I would expect from a sequel is a poor plot with action scenes as its only saving grace.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Biased reviews are a pleasure to read. Just my opinion, of course.

Plenty crappy movies get hammered by critics and don't get a dedicated thread on VGchartz. Kick Ass should be considered lucky...

I loved the Kick Ass comic because of its slick writing and a couple of shocking twists but the movie kinda screwed all of that up. I checked out the Kick Ass 2 (and the Hitgirl Comic) and, while they had potential, were also lacking. I'm not surprised by the movie's reviews. Also, there are certain things in the comic that could not possibly make it to the movie.....could it?

The role Jim Carey plays doesn't really rely on him being entertaining. If it's true to the comic, you just need to like him a little bit.

Tempted by the low hanging fruit, hm?  Shameful.  I blame Kingdom Under Fire.
