GameStop Source Claims Company Printed Copies Of Xenoblade And Labeled As Preowned

Online gaming publication Kotaku is reporting that a source close to GameStop has told them that the company printed a few thousand copies of Xenoblade Chronicles with no shrink-wrap in order to restock their inventory, then labeled them as pre-owned. The company then decided to charge $90 for the acclaimed game. The gaming publication contacted GameStop and was told that the company is looking into the matter.

Edit: I believe there trying to say Gamestop make Copies of the game to restock their inventory(with no shrink-wrap), then labeled them as pre-owned

That doesn't make any sense :(.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I'm not following either. Did they make new copies of the game somehow?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I emailed Nintendo about this, and I didn't get any response. strange considering they usually get back with me on game matters.

Maybe this was done W/O nintendo's permission.

...Maybe? That's ilegal. It's piracy. Of course they did it without Nintendo's permision.

Gamestop: "Oh gooly gee Nintendo! We ran out of new copies of that game you own the right's to... Mind if we print copies of your work and sell it for double the price, of which you'd get $0 out of it?! :D"

Nintendo: "Well sure sure you can, Gamestop! :D"

This is kinda Nintendo's fault.  They ignored the fan's outcry for more copies of the game and allowed this to happen.  Its not the first time they ignore their fans.

I find it hard to believe that this is possible.
Sounds like a butthurt fanboy didn't want to pay 90$ and is taking it out on GS, IMO.
How could they burn copies with the artwork and protection? They would need their own factory, and it's not like that's readily possible.
Also, it's 90$ BECAUSE it's rare, printing more copies would diminish that.
Doesn't make sense.

Gamestop reaction says they secured copies. Of course while I have seen it find NOS before and sell it as used, it is interesting that (a) the cases have been shown to be difference and (b) Gamestop was the only retail store which stocked the title (as it helped fund its translation).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
