Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which System is going to have a Better game line up the rest of this year?

PS3.

But, that said, none.
All the games these days are kinda bland because nobody wants to take risks, so we end up with games that look good but are just made to dumb people and almost play themselves, like Assassins Creed 3 and FFXIII.

There are amazing exceptions, like LAST OF US and FALLOUT3, but, for each masterpiece, there are dozens of generic shooters pretending to be RPGs, like Mass Effect 3 or ultra cheese JRPGs that are so idiotic tham make my head spin.

I miss the days of the PS2, when we had dozens and dozens of horror games, real RPGs and overall brilliant creations, like PERSONA 3.

I hope the next gen forgets about straight up shooters and multiplayer, this genre is so braindead it almost makes me cry.
Of course, it is not a conspiracy, it is just so damn popular, it is because the gigantic sucess of Call of Duty, I know, and the lack of creativity of western devs: A game? sure, put it on first person, put a gun on the dude´s hand. there you go, a game!
Also, idioticy is invading gaming, FAST, Bioware is watering down more and more it´s once epic and bold games, japanese devs are creating games based on their vision of western gamers (These western kids are really stuppid, we have to make everything very very easy and at the same time, crazy).

The best games this gen are the simple ones: Batman Arkhan Asylum, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon´s Souls, Catherine... Just do something compeling, do it well, don´t try to please everyone, just do it as honest as you can.

In some ways, it is our falt, everytime we buy Batlefield instead of Killzone, Gears of War instead of Allan Wake; New super mario bros instead of ZombiU we are saying that we want more of the same.

The best line up? I don´t know, All I know is that, in a age that technology has no limits, I find myself more and more longing for games that do not exist. For each The Last of Us we have 5 or 6 "Zombi modes" in CofD, for each Pikmen 3 we have dozens of Tom Clancy related titles.

It is kinda sad, but I guess this what it is, no point to complain...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I don't know about the handhelds but the PS3 easily has the best line-up for the rest of 2013.

WiiU for me as I'll be buying more for it than my ps3 and 3ds.

Id say Wii U, it has most of the major multiplats except GTA and EA games and has a great line up of exclusives. Outside of Pokemon and Zelda, not much else is coming to 3DS. PS3/360 have GTA but none of the exclusives for the rest of the year really interest me. Same goes for PS4/One they have nice lineups but most are available on other consoles and the exclusives arent must haves in my opinion. As for Vita, im not sure what its lineup looks like.

Wuhhht.  There's also Rune Factory 4 for 3DS, and if we want to include other regions there's also MH4 and the One Piece game.  Europe is supposed to be still getting Bravely Default this year, and Mario Party for the 3DS I believe is this year as well.  There's also the Sonic Lost World game coming to 3DS, Ace Attorney that has yet to release, that Etrian Odyssey game, and a handful of high quality eShop/Virtual Console titles slated for this year.  Soooohhhh... yeah.

I was pleasantly surprised by how uncinematic LoU really was or rather how much it let me play.  It didn't regenerate your health or give you a bunch of supplies after each fight.  It just let you do as well as you played and keep supplies depending on how smart and diligent you were and playing on survival was one of the most satisfying gameplay experiences I've had this gen.

There are some games I like being cinematic.  Heavy Rain and Uncharted are pretty simple gameplay wise but you can still lose and it DOES make it much more immersive in the story when you are kind of led.  While I LOVE those games I would never want every game to be like them.  So very few pull it off well.  Games like Infamous, Batman, MGS, GoW, and Resistance 3 all have excellent storytelling and give a cinematic feel without sacrificing gameplay.  There is a balance and different degrees that can be enjoyed for different reasons.

MGS has hours and hours of cutscenes and some dumbed down sections (like pressing triangle for 20 mins to get through a microwave tunnel) but I still can't beat it on Big Boss Extreme or whatever the hardest difficulty is.  I had a fun challenge with Infamous and Batman this gen on hard and Resistance and GoW I was ready to chuck a controller a few times but platinumed all 6 GoW games and R3 eventually.  GoW sticks to strict hack n slash other than finishing bosses which gives you awesome immersion and finishers that you feel a part of (still one of the few games that does QTEs right) which are its cinematic moments.  R3 sticks to letting you fend for yourself other than when you run through an explosion or watch a cutscene every now and then but it's still damn hard.

I loved the games you mentioned, they are the noble exceptions.

It's just that simple.
