Forums - Gaming Discussion - UNITY - Nintendo & Wii U Finish The REVOLUTION

Is anyone else thinking PS4 is selling off hype alone? What happens when the hype is gone? Or when the cheaper than X1 price point is not enough to hold off the X1's stronger game lineup and awesome kinect features? PS4 will suffer and slow down as Wii U picks up and builds its own hype. Pokemon MMO anyone?

Then we have X1 which needs to still pick up the pieces from the over hype for the PS4 and the bound to be bad sales in Japan.
Where does doomed Wii U place in all this eventual chaos?

Where is JL my idol at?

I'm not seeing any reason of why the PS4 would be any more hyped than the XOne. Do you? Both PS4 and XOne had great debuts, both have strong line ups for this year and both have AAA exclusives to raise the value of the systems as much as possible.

To be honest, I think XOne sales can only get near PS4's if the price of the consoles  becomes the same, as I believe the difference in sales is mainly due to the different price. But then you have a different theory, which I'm very curious about. Where does all that hype come from and why can't/couldn't the WiiU and XOne manage to get it?

Prediction made in 14/01/2014 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 70M      WiiU: 25M

Prediction made in 01/04/2016 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 18M

Prediction made in 15/04/2017 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 90M      XOne: 40M      WiiU: 15M      Switch: 20M

Prediction made in 24/03/2018 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 110M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 14M      Switch: 65M

Sega, one of Nintendo's biggest supporters, confirms Alien Isolation not coming to Wii U.

Not happy with Sonic sales?

Ok, now I'm fully back. And I have something I'd like to talk about with John.

I agree with most of your points, John. But I never agreed with the 12 millions sales by last year's end. And I don't think Nintendo will sell 35 million WiiU consoles by this year's end, considering the 3DS reached something like 31 millions after two years. Here are some sales predictions of my own.

By Nov. 18 2014: 9,6 millions sold.
By Nov. 18 2015: 15 millions sold.
By Nov. 18 2016: 20 millions sold.

So far, this is all I can come up with. I might be wrong, but who cares? If I'm wrong, I learn something new. That's how I take it.

JL has abandoned the thread again, after the 6th time of saying 'I'm back ' so I wouldn't hope for a response Metalheadgamer :P

SEGA only have themselves to blame for that. A Sonic game trying to be what is not will not sell regardless of platform. That and it was far too easy and only recently became totally accessible due to patches. Nintendo has actually marketed the game far more than SEGA ever did. (And no Twitter and Facebook don't count as marketing.)

Still wouldn't have sold well. When Super Mario 3D sells 215k in US during Black Friday what hope does Sonic stand? Really?

I'm begining to think that my numbers are innacurate with what I believe. So...
I'll put them this way instead:

20 millions by the end of 2014
35 millions by the end of 2015
50 millions by the end of 2016

ah, now I can feel it. But this is just my OPINION.

Yeah, so much more logical expecting 15m in 2014 when it did 3m this year.

Nintendo did a lot of mistakes last year:

-Undestimation of HD developpment, so in results, delays.
-Lack of strong TV marketing (except Holiday season).
-Lack of hype.
-Too much trust in third parties.

I'm not telling you to believe in my numbers, but expect WAY BETTER sales this year than in 2013.

I'll believe it when I see it. Only single piece of sales evidence we have so far is Japan. Down YoY 10k.

Nintendo had great advertising during the holidays and it ammounted to ... a lot less than they expected. You really are expecting Mario Kart to deliver holiday sales like numbers for the first half of the year. It's just not logical.
