Forums - General Discussion - Clinton vs. Obama: Who's gonna win?

I hope Obama will win but I think Clinton will.  The only problem I have with Obama is he's really far left.  Close to socialism if he isn't a socialist already.  And I'm not insinuating that socialism is bad, but me bein a libertarian you can see where I might have a few conflictions.

Wow, Obama "really far left" and "close to socialist". The perspective is quite different in Europe. Especially here in Sweden. From our perspective even Obama is "to the right".

Neither will win the actual election, but between them...Obama.

A black president is more realistic than a woman president, IMO. (not to sound sexist)

Why? From an outsiders point of view it seems clear that the democratic nominee will win due to the mess that Bush has made damaging the republican party.

@Stranne. American politics are in general a lot further to the right than European, Australian and New Zealand politics.

Obama is a great candidate but Hilary has enough fanatics and money that she will win the Nomination. That's bad news since Hilary is, not to sound immature... evil. No one really knows what her stand is, she says anything to get votes and is one of those people obsessed with power and with winning. There are lists and lists of her saying one thing to one state and then the complete opposite to another state just to please a few extra voters. She uses negative campaign adds, has taken more money from lobbyists than almost all the other candidates put together, and is downright unfriendly.

She is also quite leftist and if she runs up against McCain (a moderate) she will probably loose since independents are a big part in the U.S. and while the Republican party may have lost some voters in the past 8 years, even a weakened Republican party can beat the Democrats if the independents all vote for McCain.

If Obama wins the Democratic nomination though, the Democrats win hands down. It's hard to beat such a strait forward, honest looking guy in a general election.

Yes, I know. I'm just amazed by how big the difference is.

No you're just insinuating that you don't know what socialism is, and how wide the left side of the political spectrum really is. Hint: the mainstream political spectrum in the USA ranges from moderate right to extreme right. Moderate left would be a full-fledged social security system, far left would be a nationalised economy and extreme left would be the abolishment of private property.

Obama, if he wins he get usa out of the mess bush has left it in, if hilary wins then usa will be more screwed cause nothing will get fixed

I think the absentee ballots really helped Clinton win this time. Obama has really surged as of late. Hillary having to dump money into her campaign ... not good. She's really running scared and folks are steadily pumping more and more funds into Obama's camp. What does that mean? More time for ads to hit states like Texas, Pennsylvania and Ohio. He's gonna flood those markets and win big. I know it will be tight, but I think Hillary can't stop the Obama flood. Maybe Master Chief can, but I don't think so.

Well, if she has the funds, why did she loan herself $5M and have her staff go without pay? Obama just clocked nearly $6M in two days! That's insane ...

Obama has said if he can't fix something, he'll get a specialist that can. That's what's going to happen. He surrounds himself with experienced politicans to get the job done correctly. I do believe he'll bring change - and bridge the partisan gap. I think he needs an excellent VP to take over if he gets shot - some jackass will try it - but still, he can bring real change that this country so desperately needs. A Hillary win will rally the GOP and bring tons of dirt to the Dems. She can't draw GOPers and independents like Obama can.

We're gonna be in for an interesting ride, folks.

He definitely has a good mindset. With an outlook and determination like that, even if he cannot change everything, at least some things will change for the better which isn't something I can say about our current President.
