Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One Unboxing Vid w/ Major Nelson - Headset Now Included

Indeed, but he talked about the Octa-Core CPU and the 500GB HDD. As many numbers the better, no?

I wonder why Major Nelson didn´t say the amount of RAM in the box...

maybe its cua theres some truth to the whole RAM increase.  not saying its going to happen but that maybe there are talks about it

For all the detectives out there I did some work on the box to try and read the text. Maybe it has the secret to life!?

Anyway the small text is still unreadable but I got the mid sized font legible. Here's my work so far if anyone else has some tricks.

I do like that on/off switch!

But change the packaging, the first thing that you should see is the console, not the other way around! Oh and nice big power brick

I was slightly confused by "the kinect is an IR blaster" part. I know that the Xbox One controls your satellite box by IR, but does this mean that the Kinect fires the commands out to your box? I was actually discussing this with a friend, does this mean that your Kinect beams out the signal and relies on it reflecting off the back wall onto your satellite box?

Basically all an IR blaster does is transmit the same code that your remote would in the same way(infrared i believe). They usually look like in the first link, and you plug the one end into the XboxOne, and place the wire in a spot that will transmit to your cable box(the end of the wire is a transmitter just like in the front of your tv remote). Its most likely going to be used for cable boxes that dont support the xbox one. They may do it slightly different, but that is how they work for PC TV tuner cards.

2m13s additional IR Out Port.  I use something similar on my Happauge TV tuner.  This is a mini-headphone style port with an IR LED on the end to stick or place in front of your equipment needing IR imput.  They are definately leaning towards a Media Center type solution in the near future with full channel guides and hopefully PVR functionality.  If the X1 can be used as a Media Center system I can ditch my old MC computer.

Yay for headset, but I much rather prefer/hope/pray that they make an adapter for 360 turtle beaches to xbone port.

Also, the damn console is wider than his entire body!

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Good on Microsoft for uncluding the headset, was kinda hoping for no power brick considering how big the console is, but its not that big of a deal.

I know what an IR blaster is, I am merely questioning how it would work from the Kinect. I thought what he meant was that the Kinect actually fires the signal, which I don't have full confidence in. I am well aware that you can just get a wire there and tape it to the box to produce the signal, that is how my system works (not that I use it, I much prefer the physical controls of an actual TV remote)

Oh sorry I misunderstood. In that case as far as I know they have seen the IR port on the back of the xbox one so I dont know why it would use kinect.

Well the idea solution is to use the Kinect, it is just much easier to set up. He said the IR port is there if you need it, so maybe that is just if you have you boxes in a closed cupboard or something and the Kinect should work in all other circumstances
