So by now we all know if you want to play online on the X1 or PS4 your gonna have to pay $60 or $50... Think about this for a second, you already pay monthly for your internet, but just to use your internet on Microsoft's or Sony's device you have to pay them. People will make the argurment, oh its only 20 cents a day or something, well that money adds up over time, lets say you had a 360 for 5 years and were paying for live, that's $300! Why the hell am I paying $300 just to use the internet that I already pay for.
I think what the PS3 did was perfect, let it be OPTIONAL. Have that premium service, but show the consumer the value in it and if it is worth it then they will pay it. I mean with them offering Driveclub for free and PS Plus only being $50 and Driveclub being $60 + all the other free games I think a majority of PS4 owners would have got PS Plus anyway regardless if it was required or not.
Personally when I get a PS4 or X1 I don't plan to ever pay for online. Almost every game I play right now is single player only, and when a game does have online I don't even touch it, ex Tomb Raider. I was never that big of an online gamer to begin with, always prefered single player experiences, but with games like The Division, Destiny, Deep Down and The Crew being always online it just pisses me off that I have to pay $60 for the game then $60 for online, I'm basically paying $120 just to play that game only for 1 year.
Right now its obviouly not seen as a selling freature for the Wii U because it doesn't have a lot of online games, but when Mario Kart 8 online and SSB online are out, I think people will recognize that. Also the next gen systems aren't even out yet so free online is still the norm, with 2 consoles being free and one being requried. I think Nintendo should be writing "Free online" on the front of the Wii U box.
So just wanted to get that off my chest, what do you guys think about this?
