I'm expecting in half 2014, maybe in the holidays of that year. If the console get a pricecut before that, then it will be earlier than expected.

They assumed it would pass Vita sooner because they assumed the games would come out sooner. The games have now started to come (Pikmin) and with basically two worthwhile games per month thru December (most of which are first party) I believe Wii U will pass the Vita sometime in December shortly after the release of Super Mario 3D World (supported by DKC: TF, LOZ: WW HD, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, M&S Olympics, Sonic Lost World, etc.) Don't underestimate Nintendo systems during the holidays...especially when there are many new first-party games releasing around that time.

If you want to discuss something really "funny"...how about we discuss whether the 3DS will sell more in October thru December than Vita has in its lifetime? Seriously, I think its possible with Pokemon and Zelda coming out October and November. Not a Vita-hater...just a Nintendo-supporter, which is unfortunately rare on these forums.

you must be high or you might be on the wrong forum if you said there are few MS supporters that woudl be accurate and nobody is discussing that because no one is disputing it, so what would be the point? just stating the obvious. What games did people assume would come? We knew what games were coming and when. and that doesnt make those predictions any less wrong.

Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends and Wii Fit U were all originally Q1-Q2 releases but got delayed. Had those titles all came out as planned there would be no drought and sales would be better. I think about 5 million by now would have been possible, which isnt above Vita but damn close.

Lawl.

This gettin good!

I hope this rumor comes true - not for sales sake but for the sake of me getting both systems that I want this year.

What yah think basil is this a game changer? or prolonging the inevitable?

I don't think it's not gonna happen any time soon. WiiU may get a cut and Vita too. WiiU will do somewhat better in the West and Vita will do much better in Japan, God Eater 2 is gonna be big there.

If it happens, it probably won't happen until late 2014.

Even when those games got reported that they were going to be delayed people were still saying it would pass Vita by now so im not buying it, hell we got the delay news pretty early on. Also i seriously doubt those games would have pushed it to 5 mil, a series that hasnt been seen since GC and isnt exactly setting up the charts(its doing alright but nothing crazy), a new IP in a niche genre, a series that peaked long ago, Wii Fit U was the only one that would have done someting IMHO but even then you cant be too sure.

What does the Wii U and Vita have to do with one another?

They both play games?

One handheld the other is a full scale console.

I wasnt aware people still thought that after the delay. And im not claiming any of those games would have done amazing just that it would have essentially doubled the amount of quality exclusives on Wii U and prevented such a long drought. Who know ehat its sales would be now but im inclined to believe they would currently be much better.

Wii U won't catch up to Vita.
Sales will improve for both, but Vita will keep its lead throughout both system's lifespans.

I don't think it will ever happen. The Wii U lacks focus and the way I see it, Nintendo doesn't know what the hell to do. Sure, some Mario games and Smash Bros. will help a little, but I don't think it will be the big turnaround like with the 3DS. After all, the 3DS skyrocketed only in Japan and those folks aren't all that interested in home consoles right now. On top of that, Pikmin and other games only managed a slight boost, nothing major. And we all know how the gameucbe worked out with all those Nintendo games. People are just not into that tablet thingy like they were into Wiimote.

Nintendo will do something about it, but so will Sony. Killzone should do a decent boost, other than that, I think Vita will be heavily advertised as a PS4 accessory. I could be horribly wrong, but I think the PS4 might really help the Vita. You can do lots of stuff with those two consoles, Sony just needs to get the message out. And a bundle for 499 would be killer. Same price as Xbox One but with a Vita inside. That would be one hell of a deal.

It's near impossible tp predict by now, but I'll say Wii U won't ever catch up and will stay behind Vita for good. Of course, that is not really a victory for Sony as we are comparing home consoles with handhelds. Apples and oranges... you get the whole idea... But it sure is some ammo for every fanboy dicsussion where the Vita gets hate. ;)

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Considering how Wii U did in less than a year, 3.61 as of June, over half of Vita, which has been out for over 1.5 years, it will likely pass it during the holidays. Wii U did quite a bit when it actually had games, it just needs more games to get it back on track. Wouldn't be surprised if it passed it by the end of the holidays. Plus, you have more heavy hitters in early 2014, which will definitely push sales. So yeah, though passing the Vita isn't a major accomplishment, it isn't hard to do.
