Sony for making gaming mainstream with the ps1 and ps2, thx to them gaming wasn't only for kids and nerds anymore
Nintendo for introducing your mom, grandma and little sister to gaming
Microsoft for the future (the cloud baby)

how is 'ushering in the HD era" a thing? they just happened to be the first, it wasn't like they contributed it, nor did they innovate it. Sony and Microsoft both ushered in the HD era together on home televisions, but the PC had HD beforehand. That was not their innovation, nor did they contribute it, that was just somethign that was prone to happen and they were admittedly the first to do it...at the expense of hardware reliability.

You didn't have to. I was just being a cheeky monkey. Really, there are lots of things that all three companies made standard but if you dig deep enough, you'll find that they got inspiration from elsewhere. I think Atari re-released their consoles long before Nintendo. Microsoft is credited with Achievements but there was a precurser (according to some). Even analog dated back to before the Nes. We just have to appreciate the companies that made the advancements common place. The ones that decided when the time was right for old innovations to return to the forefront.

Anyhoo, as a Nintendo fan, I'm gonna vote Nintendo. They were the first company to let me play with power.

Trends are innovations?

Compare the size for example of the SEGA Megadrive 1 & the SEGA Megadrive 2.

Sony's list of "innovations" is nothing but baloney. (more coat tail riding than innovation)

The ONLY correct answer above is Nintendo.

In fact, i find it insulting to see 13 votes (currently) up there for sony.
